I needed better range and was told to get this router.  I cannot get my cameras to work with this.

What cameras are you using and at what distance? I set my cameras up first about 5-10 feet from the router to ensure all is okay. Then I move them to their location. Some routers are better at distance but there are limits that they are limited to. Also using the 2.4 GHz band will get you more distance than the 5 GHz band.
