Hi all

I'm using a single power line kit to extend the coverage of wireless internet on my home. The internet hub is at the ground level, with the Ethernet port input alongside it. At the second level, is the Wi-Fi booster unit, with the following data rates:

RX: 254 Mbps

TX: 326 Mbps

I was quite happy with these "wired" results, provided the length of the circuit (three-story house) plus the fact that the socket where the Ethernet cable is connected to is a dual plug and the second inlet has an extension lead with 5+ devices.

Life is not easy though. The Wi-Fi speeds are very poor. I get at maximum 30 Mbps if I test alongside the Wi-Fi booster and if I'm to the room alongside it, I get at maximum 20 Mbps.

I tried different channels and I don't believe there's too much interference on the 2.4 GHz band, as there's few other Wi-if signals around our house...

Who do I solve this?

Thanks in advance,

Evandro

@evandromoro

The speed on the tpPLC Utilty is the powerline rate, not the real speed.In the actual household environment, real speed test could be 20% to 30% of the Powerline rate and also capped by ISP bandwidth or router speed. Here is a related FAQ explaining the Powerline Rate and Actual speed of the Powerline Adapters:
https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/2928/

Can you wire a computer to the WPA4220 and check  if powerline devices wired speed is good, if only Wireless speed slow, you could try the following troubleshooting steps:

Log in to the Web page of powerline device and go to Wireless-> Settings-> Advanced-> Channel/Channel width
https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/faq/1417/

Try a different channel for 2.4Ghz, and change the channel width to 40Mhz.

If the issue persists, may I know the wired speed from tp-link, and can you share with us  photo of Wifi link speed on your computer:  https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/2265/
