AX1750 Dual Band will connect to 2.4G but not 5G network

AX1750 Dual Band will connect to 2.4G but not 5G network
I purchased this unit because it was highly rated for effectiveness and ease of installation.
Using the Tether app I was able to see my 2.4G and was able to connect easily to this 2.4 using the WPS buttons (probably would've worked with the Tether app as well).
However neither would either see nor connect to the 5G band from the router. I checked the router and it is functioning at 5G and I can connect to it with my other devices.
On the AX1750 only the 2.4G LED is lit, though it is transmitting and I can connect to it at both 2.4G and 5G.
I am using a dual band AT&T router BGW320-500
Obviously I would like to get the max capacity out of the WiFi network.
Any suggestions?
