X55 hardware versions.

I just bought a 5th X55 for a different address to the first 4. When I tried to set connection preferences for a few clients on the new X55 (specifically to lock them to 2.4GHz), that option was missing.
I then learned that there are different HW versions. Checking, I found that my first 4 units are V1.6 but the new unit is V1.26. is it usual for a later purchase to be an older HW version?
I then looked at the firmware the units are running. The first 4 V1.6 units have the latest whizbang 1.2.2 firmware having very recently been upgraded from the 1.1.0 version. The new V1.26 unit has a 1.0.1 firmware dated early November and tells me it's up to date.
So is my missing option the result of having older hardware with older firmware or is it perhaps because I'm only using a single unit and that option is being incorrectly skipped?
