Official Release Archer AX80v1 New Firmware with USB Performance Optimizations (1.11.1 Build 231201)
Hey Everybody!
Our teams have released new firmware for the Archer AX80v1: 1.1.1/2 Build 20231201
This update brings some much-requested improvements to the USB read and write speeds, allowing faster file transfers and more consistent performance. If you have used the USB Sharing feature in the past we would love to hear how the new optimizations compare to your previous speeds.
New Features/Enhancements
- Enhanced USB Sharing Performance (Read / Write Speeds),
- Optimized the L2TP/IPsec VPN performance,
- Optimized system stability.
Firmware Update
To update to the latest firmware, you have two options:
- Utilize the online update feature through the Tether App/Web UI.
or
- Download the firmware from the TP-Link official website and upgrade your router manually through the Web UI.
Case Sharing
To showcase the performance of the latest firmware, we conducted a performance test with the following setup:
- We connected a USB solid-state drive (SSD) to the USB port of the AX80 router.
- A PC with a 2.5G LAN network adapter was connected to the 2.5Gb LAN Port of the AX80
- Using Samba file sharing, we performed a CrystalDiskMark test on the PC.
Below you can see the results seen during testing. The results showed sequential read speeds of up to 290MB/s and sequential write speeds of approximately 120MB/s, representing a substantial upgrade in performance.
Specifically, the read speed for a single 5GB movie file was an impressive 280MB/s.
Please Note:
- The Archer AX80 router features a single 2.5G port, supporting speeds over 1 Gbps.
- To accurately test the read and write performance of the Samba shared folder, we recommend switching the 2.5G port to be used as a LAN connection and connecting a 2.5Gb capable PC utilizing CrystalDiskMark.
- Enabling the QoS feature may impact the USB read and write performance. If the performance does not meet your expectations, we suggest temporarily disabling the QoS feature.
We would like to continue gathering your feedback regarding the latest firmware, and the optimizations to the USB Sharing features, to ensure stability and compatibility with these new enhancements for your network devices.
If you have any questions, feedback, or concerns regarding the latest update, please let our teams know through the comments below. As always, your feedback allows our teams to ensure the best possible performance, compatibility, and stability for all users and devices.
