WiFI Internet speeds throttled?

Model: Deco XE75
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.2.9

I'm trying to solve an issue that has me puzzled. My WiFi internet speeds seem to be throttled by the router and I can't seem to understand why.  We have 600/600 Fiberoptic internet. My desktop, when connected to my Deco XE75 primary router via gigabit ethernet will get about 650/650 on Speedtest. The same desktop, 3 feet from my router, connected via WiFi 6 with a reported link rate of 1200/1200 will only get about 300/300 on SpeedTest. My Pixel 7 on WiFi 6E 3 feet from the router with a reported link of about 2000/2000 will also only get around 300/300 on SpeedTest. My Xbox Series X, which is connected to my second XE75 via ethernet that uses a MoCA 2.5Gbps backhaul to the primary router, also pulls 650 down. I had similar WiFi performance penalty with my old Asus RT-AC86U router. So my question is why are my wired devices pulling at or above my rated internet speed while my WiFi devices, regardless of WiFi generation and connection speed, are only downloading at 15-25% of the reported WiFi link speed?

Yes, I have reset the router. Yes, I have reset my fiber ONT. Yes, I have the latest firmware for my router. Yes, I have the latest drivers/software for my devices.

Any help would be appreciated!

It was, I had tried setting my phone and desktop as priority devices without improvement. Turning QoS off did not improve WiFi download speed.

What versions of windows are you running? Also do you know the make and model of your wifi card on your computer?

Win 11 Pro. Device manager shows it's a MediaTek RZ608 Wi-Fi 6E 80Mhz adapter

Windows 11 is compatible with Wi-Fi 6E, so that is not the issue. Additionally, your network card has the capability to reach speeds up to 1.2 Gbp, which aligns with the speed of your router.

It is important to note that WPA3 is required for Wi-Fi 6 devices using the 6 GHz band. Therefore, I recommend configuring your network to use WPA3 to fully leverage the benefits of Wi-Fi 6E.

If you are currently using WPA2, consider switching to WPA3 and observing any improvements.

If that doesn't work...

I would open a ticket with support you can find the info on how to do this from the link below

  @smashweights

Hi, May I know who your internet service provider is?

And how about the model number of your ISP Cable modem?

If the old  Asus RT-AC86U had the same issue with Deco XE75, there might be some limitation on the service provider.

Thank you very much and best regards.

We have AltaFiber. Not sure on modem model as the ONT is outside in a lock box.

Yes, the WiFi 6E network is configured with WPA3.
