TP-Link is a different company and WiFi 5 routers such as yours are listed on ASUS' EOL list. The RE650 is the closest spec to your AC3100 and is what I would recommend.

@ConfusedPsyduck At first glance it seems the RE615X is on the latest firmware. How about the AX1800? Probably the signal is strong enough from the router that clients stay connected to it....

@Crunchewy A long time ago ISPs used to give trouble to non-ISP provided routers that I suspect still might be going on today. Maybe try cloning the MAC of the prior router onto the new one and see...
