It does appear to be the PC with the issue. The 2.4 will connect better for distance and 5GHz is faster. I would try moving to about 5 feet away from the router, power down the pc, remove the USB...

Are you power cycling the router after you make the change. I have had some settings on my router that seem to not take effect until you power off/on.

Are you connected to the router via cable or WIFI? I use WIFI for my Cannon printers and can print from my iMac and iPads.

I would not try it as I would think that the heat would not disperse correctly.

Try using the run command (windows key + r) and then type the ip address.
