When you made changes to the router settings, did you power cycle it? Does your phones work on 2.4 on other networks? Is there any extenders or such in the network. Are you using QoS? Are your SSIDs...

You may have some interference on the channel that is being selected. Go to your router's 2.4 WIFI settings and try using different channels and widths. Channels 1, 6, and 11 do not overlap.

There are several other posts where others have unbricked a router. I never had to. Try some of those things and hope one works for you.
