Troubleshooting Tapo c120 cameras all experiencing choppy/laggy RTSP streams after 1.3.1 firmware

I have 8 of these cameras, all purchased and set up about 1.5-2 months ago. I have them all recording to sd, and also using my synology nas / surveillance station to record/stream them via RTSP (tcp).
Before the 1.3.1 firmware, they were working perfectly. Nice, smooth real-time views, however, after the 1.3.1 update they are showing a frame every 2-4 seconds, and randomly lagging behind for hours.
Changing hardware acceleration did not help with the quality.
Within synology ss, it 'found' them with onvif and I do have them set up as Tapo c120 cameras in there. I've also removed, then tried adding as generic onvif.
The c110s and c210s I have are still running smoothly in synology ss in 'live-view'.
Viewing the c120s from the tapo app in live-view seems fine. For me, it's something with the RTSP.
I've seen others (on reddit) with similar issues when trying to view with RTSP.

The new firmware seems to do the trick. I'm able toview my cams now via rtsp on stream1 without issue so far.

@Riley_S Wanted to add in same issue. My camera is detecting events but is taking over a minute to load the footage. When the footage plays I get 2 fps and it immediately cuts out. There's nothing wrong with my WiFi. I've tried resetting everything and updating the app. To be honest I've been having many issues for months with this camera and it working at certain times of the day rather than others. I had this issues with Girafit and it turned out they needed to update their cloud servers. Do you guys have an eta of a fix? I need a working camera asap so thinking of going back to using Girafit.

Any idea when this firmware will be generally available? Still experiencing issues.

Any update on this? My recently purchased cameras all are suffering from this problem and I'm thinking of returning them if there isn't a firmware update soon.

Any news on this?
I love my C110s, but my 2 C120s have been a pain.
Thanks for this post as it gives me hope, at least. I was about to give up.
How exactly does one "open a Support Ticket in our Systems on the Email Support Tab of our Support Page" to get early access to the updated firmware? I don't see the option.

Same thing on the C320ws. Stream1 is choppy, Stream2 is ok since latest firmware

@Riley_S it has already been ~3 months since the breaking release without a way to roll back. I'd really love to use the local RTSP stream 1. Based on the comments it looks like solution for the issue exists. Would you be able to tell how long until the proper release with a fix?

I updated my C325WB just last night to 1.3.6 and immediately I'm getting tons of errors like this coming from the stream:
[h264 @ 0x55b2cbab6600] SEI type 764 size 272 truncated at 256
Every iteration of the firmware, something seems to get worse.

Hi,
You can disconnect the RTSP stream with the third-party app, remove the RTSP entry, then re-establish the RTSP connection and check if you can stream the camera properly.
It's suggested to start a new thread here with the following information for further assistance.
1. Describe the detailed phenomenon you encountered after updating the firmware on the Tapo C325WB.
2. What third-party app is used to stream the camera?
3. Try a different third-party app, such as VLC and iSpy, and check if you can stream the camera properly.
