An option to set 5ghz WiFi channel width below 80mhz would nice. Like allowing to select 20mhz or 20/40mhz.

  @Ryan

Since this release was AUTOUPDATED in my Archer BE550, the router does not have internet connection. Every morning, I wake up without internet. I have to basically unplug the device, wait 30 secs and then plug it back in order to connect. Three days in a row. Previous to it, everything worked flawlessly.

I had it scheduled reboot daily at 3:00 a.m. Yesterday, I changed it to once a week. This morning I woke up again with no internet connection (hard wired and wireless).

Please advise on a solution.

Thanks,

Balperro

  @Balperro

Thanks for letting me know. The behavior strikes me as a bit unexpected - I'm curious if there's any link between it and the scheduled reboot feature in your case, or if the anomaly stems from elsewhere. Have you tried temporarily disabling the scheduled reboot feature to see if the symptom occurs again the following morning?

Does the router's LED behavior change when the connection is lost?

Also, does your Archer BE550 connect to a modem for its Internet source? If so, does the modem have any changes in its status LED(s)?

  @Ryan Thank you for your prompt response.

I will disable the shedule reboot and report back. As I mentioned before, I had it scheduled for daily at 3:00 a.m. and it was working flawlessly for months. Never had an issue.

When the first night I woke up with no internet, I first checked the fiber modem. All lights were blinking as normal. Check downdetector website. No issues. Then went to the router and all front lights were off. No LED lights at all, so I thought my UPS was off, but I immediately realized that was not the case, since the modem was up and running. Then, I proceeded to disconnect the router. Waited 30 secs. Plug it back in. After a few minutes, everything was running with no issues. Went to work, monitored internet access remotely, no issues. Got home later tthat day, kids were working normal on their computers, no complaints. I worked until 9:30 p.m. the onlly thing I changed was the reboot to weekly. No issues. Went to bed only to wake up with no internet again. Checked everything again, router LEDs were off. Unplugged it and all that. Back in action. Went to work, same routine. No issues. Came home same thing. Woke up next day. No internet. No LEDs on. This time, I did not unplugged it, just turn it off. Turn it on almost immediately. Back in action after a few minuntes. Tonight I will disable schedule reboot.

I also changed VPN server and see if this is causing the issue. Using Wireguard VPN through NordVPN new autosettings. I have been using these different VPN servers since I bought the router.

I apologize for the long response.

Thanks again!

  @Balperro

Thanks for taking the time to try a few of these steps and for the added context regarding your concerns after the firmware update.

After hearing more of the details surrounding the anomaly, it sounds almost as if the router isn't just losing internet connectivity, but possibly power altogether. I know you mentioned not having changed much other than the firmware before the anomaly began, but I was wondering if you've had a chance to check the power adapter and cable, or try another power outlet, just to see if that makes any difference?

  @Ryan

Hello,

I hope you had a safe and good Easter.

I would like to report that the disconnection issue was indeed related to the Archer BE550_V1/V1.6_1.1.2 Build 20250317.

I downgraded to the 2024 firmware and ALL issues went away. I disable the Autoupdate feature of the router to avoid falling for it again.

I will wait until a new release comes out and shows that it is safe to update.

Cheers.

Balperro

Hi @Balperro,

Thanks for reporting your findings after downgrading to a previous firmware. This isn't the kind of experience we want our users to have when updating to the latest firmware for their devices, and I'll be sure to pass along this information to our engineers so they are aware.

  @Balperro

I sent this over to our engineers, and they were a bit perplexed by this behavior, since the update shouldn't affect the router's power mechanism.

If you wanted to try updating to 1.1.2 again, they suggested the following after updating to 1.1.2 in your specific case:

1. Export the current configuration of the router

2. Factory reset the device

3. Only configure basic settings like Internet and Wi-Fi, and then monitor its behavior to see if the anomaly manifests again.

Additionally, are you using the original power adapter that came with the router?
