Hi everyone,

I’m having an issue with my new Tapo C425 and hoping someone here can point me in the right direction. Right out of the box, the camera detected everything—almost too much. To narrow it down, I increased the wake‑up sensitivity to 10 and turned off Vehicle Detection so it would focus on people instead of cars passing on the street.

Ever since making those changes, the camera barely detects anything at all. I’ve watched people walk directly through the detection zone and the camera doesn’t trigger or record. I rebooted the camera, but nothing changed.

Isn’t a wake‑up sensitivity of 10 supposed to make detection more responsive? Before I return this and switch to another brand, I’d love to hear any thoughts or suggestions.

On a daily basis, someone messes with my car parked in front of my house and the camera just never sees it. So frustrating.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,
To conserve power, battery-powered cameras typically remain in a low-power sleep state and can only detect motion when awake. The camera can be awakened by actions within the app, such as viewing the camera's live feed, or by the PIR sensor. In your situation, it may be that people walking cannot wake up the camera, so the camera barely detects them.

You can refer to Part 2 of the following instructions to troubleshoot.
What to do if the Detection feature is not working on the TP-Link Camera?

Best Regards
