With the latest update to your Tapo light strips and the Tapo App, you can take advantage of the 2.0 Lighting Platform from Tapo! With more than 70 unique lighting effects across 7 different categories, you can easily create the perfect atmosphere – whether for parties, everyday activities such as sleeping, watching TV, gaming, or even simply providing an accent for your home décor.

Getting Started with the Latest Dynamic Lighting Features

 

Color Painting

The color painting feature has been a standard for both Tapo and Kasa RGBIC LED Strips for the last few years. The features allow you to customize the color and brightness of the various lighting segments of your strip.

 

 

Now, these features have become all the more powerful by allowing you to add an animated effect to your lights!

 

 

 

Dynamic Lighting Effects

Previously, to create a fine-tuned effect, you had to use an existing animated effect and change the colors and brightness associated with the effect(as mentioned below).

 

When creating a lighting effect, you are now given the option to not only change the colors and brightness, but also the ability to apply one of the six new animations to your lights.

Adjustable Predefined Light Effects

If your light strips do not yet support the complete customization of colors, effects, and brightness with the new lighting platform, don’t forget that many of the same effects can be achieved using the Custom Effect Feature.

 

After you find an effect you like, such as the smooth flow of Auroroa or the Bubbling Cauldron Effect's flicker, you can change the colors, speed, and brightness to fit your preferences.

 

Note: This feature is not yet supported on the 2.0 Lighting Platform due to the added ability to easily recreate the predefined effects.

Please Note: Animated Lighting Effects, Color Painting, and Light Segments are only available to RGBIC LED Strips allowing multiple colors along the strip simultaneously. Lights Strips which only show a singular color have a few basic effects that you may customize, however the entire length of the strip will follow your effect.
