KP115 turning off by itself
KP115 turning off by itself
Today I had 2 seperate KP115 smart plugs turn off randomly. Upon removing and re-inserting the plug the green indicator will light up quickly, change to be flashing green, then solid green, then turn off finally.
Only when I manually power on the switch with the power button will it turn back on.
Both of the plugs were in the attic, and so weren't accidentally switched off. They are both on the same 4 socket power strip, so I was wondering if that had something to do with it (They both didn't turn off at the same time, and both were in different sockets on the strip).

Hello everyone
You could try some suggestions here for plug turning on/ off issue:
- Please try to remove Schedule / Away Mode/ Timer/ Smart Action/ Scene settings on smart device in case those settings affects the bulb: https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/2815/
- If it works with any third party smart app , like Alexa /Google /Home automation etc., please unbind or remove settings temporarily while test
- Confirm device firmware and app are both up to date.
- Factory reset kasa device and reinstall it on Kasa app and see if issue is gone
How to reset TP-Link Kasa smart switch and plug?
If still the same issue, can you help confirm some details here, thank you.
1. Please describe phenomenon as detailed as possible, e.g. at 8:00 UTC+1, xx light turn off by itself and stay off, power led on plug went off, need manually press power button to turn it on, or turn it through APP
2. How often does this happen? Does it turn /off regularly at certain time or randomly,
3. Do you use any third-party software except for Kasa app
4. Did you recently add any new network device in the home network? The model of router, does plug connect to router directly or through extenders?
5. How many smart device have this issue, can you share the Mac address of certain unit to us via private message, thank you.

@heavydawson Hello,
Thank you for your detailed post, it is recommended to try a different power socket for the plugs in the antic and also try a different location for them and see if that helps.
Do you mean after the setup or at random occasion, one of the antic plugs will be OFF on kasa app? Can you turn it on via app at that moment?
If you are using any third party software like Home automation, SmartThings etc, please unlink them temporarily
It is recommended to unplug the home appliance on the plug temporarily for a test.
Confirm Kasa app is up to date, and firmware of plugs is also up to date.
May I know how many tp-link plugs do you have in total, or do you have other plugs which work fine? Can you share the MAC address of the plugs by private message, thank you.

I've since encountered the issue with the KP115 turning itself off in 2 other locations in the house, both of which are not using any extension leads (plugged directly into wall sockets).
The same symptoms, only pushing the manual reset button on the side of the plug will it come back on.
So that's 5 plugs out of a total of 50, ~ 10% are seeing the issue.

I see the same problem with one of my KP115 smart plugs. It is connected to a TV, and the TV turns on and off randomly.

I also have the same issue. Brand new KP115, firmware updated, network steady.
I have a computer attached to it. It is very awkward to have the computer turned off in the middle of the game...
THen it starts again only by pushing the side button (or by app)
Do we have a solution?

Ok, so I followed your steps:
1. Hard reset the device and remove it from app
2. setup again and adding to Kasa app
Device: KP115
Hardware version: 1.0
Firmware version: 1.0.16
Now it is powering a small fan, no automations, no schedules.
14:46 - hard reset -> switched on
15:22 - noticed it switched off -> switch on manually using app
15:52 - noticed it was switched off again -> switch on manually using app
17:25 - switch off by itself -> I switch on manually using app
17:50 - switch off by itself -> I switch on manually using app
20:22 - switch off by itself -> I switch on manually using app
21:34 - switch off by itself -> I switch on manually using app
So it seems it switched off by itself at random times, usually at 30 or more minutes.
What next?
PS> I sent you the MAC on a private message.

Any solution to this issue? 3 units I'm currently using start to misbehave - with similar symptoms described above.
I have tried various solutions proposed but they don't resolve the issue.
Latest firmware, unbound services, etc. - just a simple off schedule at 3 am local time.
This seems to be a bug - the first unit i bought worked fine for a few months (that's the primary reason why I decided to buy more to replace other brands) but now the issues are plaguing me several times a day.
Appreciate any input/update, thanks.
