C720 with Verhicle detection via a preset zone.  Zone covers about half the screen. Set up to detect vehicles entering or leaving a drive.

 

During daylight operations vehicles are detected in either direction. Right to left and Left to right.

During dark operations vehicles are detected ONLY in one direction. Left to Right.

 

All notification setting on.

Schedule set to always.

Similar camera in a slightly different location but set to "PEOPLE only detect" works normally.  All settings similar except for detection type.

 

I can't see anything in the settings that could cause this. Working one way would tend to indicate settings are correct.

Hi,
Usually, you can refer to the following instructions to troubleshoot if the detection feature is not working well.
What to do if the Detection feature is not working on the TP-Link Camera?
 

In your situation, please confirm the following information for further analysis.
  1. On the camera's Device Settings > Detection page, please send us the screenshots of the Detection page, detection zones page, and the pages of the enabled detection types.
  2. When the reported phenomenon occurs, please record the video manually on the camera's Live View page, then send us the video for analysis. You can upload the video and screenshots to your cloud server (such as Google Drive), generate a download link, and send it to me (@Solla-topee) via a private message.
  3. How do you judge that the vehicle is not detected at night when it runs from right to left? Is it because no corresponding notification was received, and no corresponding video clip was created?

  @Solla-topee Many thanks for your time.  I have been playing, naturally, to try to resolve this.

 

The only difference in the left right and right left was that the right left first approaches the camera head on and the left right moves parallel to the camera before turning away. 

 

Right Left - I wondered if the initial headlight glare (no issue during the day) was the partial cause of the issue.  The vehicle appears from behind a building so the glare is sudden.

 

I have lengthened the detection zone so that the vehicle is in it for a longer period.  This does seem to have resolved the issue.  Although only tested a couple of times so far.

 

Point 3 Yes no notification, no video clip.

 

I have set continuous record on the H200 hub and if the issue is not fixed I will do as requested.

 

Meanwhile the lengthing of the detection zone seems to have worked.
