Accepted Manual Signal Source Selection on Deco
Background:
Some users might notice that all satellite Deco units are connected to the main Deco, instead of the nearest satellite Deco.
Typical Layout:
Why does the satellite Deco still keep selecting the main Deco as a signal source instead of the nearest satellite Deco?
Deco will choose the best signal source by itself. The selection does not depend absolutely on the signal strength, but also on the connection rate. Sometimes satellite Deco units may get slower speed due to half-duplex mode and interferences caused by connected devices like phones, or other devices. To ensure the satellite Deco gets reliable speed, the main Deco stays selected by Satellite Deco after comparative analysis.
Some users tested that after moving one of the satellites far enough and not being able to reach the main Deco, they finally get the desired connection map:
However, the speed of the satellite becomes slower than what it could get when connecting to the main Deco directly. Due to the working pattern and protocol/regulation of Wi-Fi technology, the more wireless hops, the slower the speed would be. This rule applies to any kind of mesh or extender system. So it is not always good to connect to the nearest Deco unit.

Can you clarify FIrmware versioning?
My M4Rs are: 1.0.2 Build 20220401 Rel. 35920 and system tells me its up to date
But i just saw in this thread that there is a
M4R 2.0_1.5.2 Build 20210916 Rel. 56193
This one is dated before my firmware but its numbered higher. Is this the beta version?
I am really confused.

@TP-Link Has this been release for the S4 models? If not what's the ETA?
My deco's were working great when I installed them in my new house back in April, but I've noticed recently my speeds are awful, and I checked and my upstairs 3rd deco is connecting to the main one in my basement rather than the middle level one.

I have deco x20[ver1.2] 3-pack placing in a double storey house
the placement is like front-middle-rear but the reardeco will always connect to the front deco(main deco) most of the time
(only few time i get lucky that it connect in the right way)
Which i pretty sure this way of connect is not the best solution(the farest and through most wall)
which causing the signal to be unstable and slow in speed
Tried to remove it from the group and add it again but no hope
Wonder if you could provide any beta firmware that could enable the manual signal source selection?

This is essential for all decos. I have the X90 and would very much like this feature to be added.

Will Manual source selection ever be added to the X60? The automatic option isn't robust enough, I have one satellite with a very weak signal that keeps disconnecting and it won't connect to another satellite nearby that has full signal to the main hub.
