Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.4.10 Build 20211104 Rel. 35882

Hi!

 

I have a new Tapo P100 smart plug. I can configure it without problems with Tapo App in Android. All works properly. Plug P100 can be turn On/off remotely with the APP.

 

The Hardware version is v1.2 and Firmware is: 1.4.10 Build 20211104 Rel. 35882

 

The problem is when I try to activate Tapo P100 with Alexa.

 

I look for Tapo Skill in Alexa App, insert Tapo ID and Password of Tapo Account, and I always get the same message:

 

"Operation failed. Please try again later".

 

I have sent the activation link to my PC Browser, used other android browser, but message is always the same: "Operation failed. Please try again later".

 

Any idea where is the problem? in the Tapo App Configuration or in Alexa App configuration? I have no more ideas about what to try. I have reset both Alexa and tapo P100 device and start from scratch, but always is the same, when trying to activate Tapo Skill with Alexa it is impossible: "Operation failed. Please try again later".

 

Please help.

It's a good step to check some tips here What should I do if I cannot make Tapo smart devices (smart plug, smart camera, smart lighting) work with Alexa or Google Home

The error seems to be related to the Alexa APP 

  • You could try to authorize Tapo account from Web on a different network device like PC/ Laptop
  •  https://alexa.amazon.com 
  • Try to turn off VPN or security APPs on the phone
  • Try a different phone & Try a different network on your phone like using mobile network/ a different Wi-Fi network 

If still the same,can you help provide some information here:

 1) Alexa/Google Home App version 2) Kasa App version 3) Phone OS and version 4) and a screenshot if it shows any error. Thank you.

If you haven't enabled the Tapo Skill in your Alexa app, please do this first.

Open the Alexa app.
Tap More.
Tap Skills & Games.
Tap the magnifying glass in the upper right corner.
Type in Tapo.
Select the Tapo Skill from the search results.
Tap Enable to Use.
Sign in to link your TP-Link account with Alexa.
Accept any permissions.
Discover your devices.
 

If you've already enabled the Tapo skill, disable & then re-enable the Tapo Skill.

Open the Alexa app.
Tap More.
Tap Skills & Games.
Tap Your Skills.
Scroll down the list to find & select Tapo.
Tap Settings.
Tap Disable.
Tap Disable again to confirm.
Tap Enable to Use.
Sign in to link your TP-Link account with Alexa.
Accept any permissions.
Discover your devices.
