Official Wi-Fi Routers Support WireGuard VPN Now
VPNs have grown a great deal over the past few years, and as a result, we have seen an increase in demand for alternative VPN options on TP-Link routers. WireGuard VPN could be one of the most popular VPNs that we are seeing in the public community and forums. We are excited to announce here that we do have some router models that support or plan to support WireGuard VPN feature, and there will be more in the near future.

1. You will need to perform a firmware upgrade on your router when the official firmware is released.

3. Planned***: Kindly note that Planned is NOT a guarantee, as the plan can be adjusted or changed. Planned is also not recommended for your purchase reference if the requested feature is the main consideration. It's suggested to choose one that already supports the features you require when purchasing. The list above is subject to change and might not include all models and hardware versions. We will update it once there are new models or hardware available.
For other models that are not listed above, there is currently no definitive information if WireGuard VPN would be possible or be available in the future, and we don't have any specific details that I can share around. It's suggested to keep an eye on the official website or on the router web GUI/Tether app for any new updates.

@sven_spb Thanks for joining the discussion here with WireGuard VPN.
We removed the planned list because we are also not sure when or whether other models will receive a firmware update that adds WireGuard VPN, and we don't want to confuse the community by listing those models in the forum.
If a model gets WireGuard VPN supported, it will be listed in the firmware release notes explicitly. Please keep an eye on the official website or your router web GUI for any newer firmware updates. When new models are released with WireGuard VPN, we will also update the list on a regular basis.

In the end, don't trust TP-Link after this stunt. My last and only TP-Link router. No firmware updates after 2 years, in table it was said that wireguard would come, years later. Naaah, scrap it. Make them buy another device.
I do Hope people will see this post before they buy this brand device for vpn clients, sad, sad...

Same here...
TP-Link, be honest to us. The AX11000, for example has reched EOL and will no longer get FW updates.
This is my last TP-LInk router.
My next router will be from ASUS.
The ASUS GT-BE98 has received more FW updates than the AX11000, that hit the shelves in januari, 2019.
Shame on you, TP-link.

@JNNEWS As far as I can confirm, there will be a new firmware version published for Archer AXE5400 V1 soon, which will add support for WireGuard VPN. However, I cannot give you an exact date when it will be available. Please pay close attention to the firmware updates on your router page.
