  @David-TP Since no official is responding to our queries, it means future services for deco m4 has been stopped. No stable firmware might be released if this is true

Guys, there's no point in whining about the delay of the release. It will come out when it's ready, and if it never gets ready, then the beta should be the next best thing. Also you gotta remember that the M4 is the basically the entry point of the whole Deco-range, so it's actually surprising that it gets any updates at all at this point. The more expensive and newer units are likely to be higher on the priority list, and I'm assuming the update is basically a biproduct of the same features being developed for other products.

Now, I'm not saying I'm not waiting for the update, just pointing out that "It will never be released so we might as well flush the routers down the toilet" type messages aren't very helpful.

Fingers crossed for a stable 1.7 release for the M4 V2!

  @McFox

The problem is that newer versions of this product do have this functionality and retailers are still selling the older ones so people have been purchasing them thinking they are getting this functionality and they are not. That's just downright misleading. I purchased another a couple months back thinking I'd get a V4 and had to send it back as it was a hobbled V2. I didn't bother buying another in the end. Even on some of the more expensive ones you just don't know what you will get. That's just plain shoddy customer focus.

In addition the beta firmware versions are also very old now and missing key security updates, people using them are risking their home networks. Just do a search on TP Link security flaws and you'll understand why this is also a very real problem.

At this point TP Link just need to clarify the situation for their customers once and for all and not leave them hanging around waiting on something that probably isn't coming or worse, leaving their networks exposed to bad actors by using out of date firmware.

Yeah, I'm not saying it's ok not to release updates, the point was that whining isn't helping anyone. It's one thing to ask for a status or whatever, but there's people just saying they'll throw their Decos away if they don't get the update immediately. That's simply not helpful.
Fingers crossed for a stable 1.7 release for the M4 V2!
