Very bad audio quality

Good morning, I recently purchased 3 C520WS cameras, a C320WS and a C100, all 5 have terrible audio quality, it seems as if there was an anti-noise filter, which attenuates too much what you want to hear. Conversations between people if they are not 3 meters from the cameras are incomprehensible, you can't even hear passing cars. They are installed in a mountain area where there is no background noise, why not be able to choose whether to deactivate this anti-noise filter? Previously I had 4 cameras from another brand, I could choose to completely turn off a noise filter in the settings. in that case you could hear background noise, but that was fine for me, conversations between people were clear and understandable even if they were more than 15 meters away. With Tapo this is not possible. I'm really disappointed by this.
What good is audio on a video camera if half the sentences are muffled and unintelligible?

1. Camera is in the same place where it had been working perfectly previously. To test, I moved it to another room in an open space - same issue occured.
2. The microphone and speaker volume settings are correct:
3. I pulled some of the recordings directly from the SD Card and played them on my PC - all is good! Audio is clear. This means the camera is recording everything correctly. I've sent my cameras MAC address via private message - no point in sending video since they're fine when pulled from the SD Card. Perhaps I can capture video on my phone of the issue as it appears in the app itself.
Therefore, when trying to view in the Android app, that's where the issue lies. Recordings play in what appears to be a slow motion despite the playback speed being 1x - audio is bad/garbled, but I think it actually sounds like audio in extreme slow motion. Live view plays video correctly, but audio is bad/garbled and also seems to be just playing very slowly. Attempting to download the recordings to the phone results in a file with the same issues. Using the "Talk" feature, audio being sent to the camera and played through it's speaker is fine; audio from the camera microphone back to the phone is bad/unintelligible again.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app without any improvement.
This could either be a playback/streaming issue on the app (tried 2 different phones), camera itself or WiFi issue.
I haven't reset the camera yet, but will try that next.
It's just strange that these issues seemed to appear with the latest firmware update.

Hi,
What's your Tapo app version? You can try factory resetting and reconfiguring the camera to see if it helps in this case. If the problem persists, a video showing the audio issue on the Tapo app will help analyze the issue.

Factory resetting the camera has fixed the issue for me. All is well now - hopefully it won't reoccur.

@Dr_Dolittle just bought a C125 . Absolutely terrible audio. So disappointed. Looks like it's common issue with these cameras. I regret buying it now.
did you ever get yours sorted ?

@Jjl290 I also have c120 with horrible sound quality. How long did it take for them to send you a different firmware?

@csphere83 they have a firmware 131 custom with removal of the sound filter. They already have it you just got to go through the loops to get them to send it to you
you will need your Mac address and they will able to send you the custom firmware with no sound filter on it.
This is for the c-120 camera only
