Hi all

Just upgraded from XE200 to BE85....

I have a lot of devices of various types - (some 2.4 IoT devices, some newer wifi 7 devices etc.).  I have turned on the MLO network as well as the 6Ghz network.

is there any reason why I would not re-connect all of my devices to the new MLO network? or should I still use the original non-MLO network??

I thought I was pretty savvy at these things, but am getting so confused now with all the different networks I have showing!!!

Not sure if makes any difference but as well as the 2 BE85 units, I also have an additional BE65 setup on top floor.

Thanks for all your help...... all advice and pointers very much appreciated!!

  @Rossy100

Hi, If there is a mobile device that supports MLO and when it connects to MLO Wi-Fi, it could utilize both 5GHz and 6GHz bands spontaneously to achieve a higher speed.

If there isn't, they would only pick one band, either 5GHz or 6GHz.

What is WiFi 7’s Multi-Link Operation (MLO)?

For the 2.4GHz devices, it is still suggested to use the original network. For the 5GHz and 6GHz supported devices, it is worth a try to connect to the MLO network directly.

Thank you very much and best regards.

  @David-TP thank you. If I'm understanding correctly then there is no advantage of keeping any decide (except 2.4) on the original network. In which case I'm tempted to rename the MLO to the original network name so all devices will auto connect to that.

is there any benefit from a load balancing perspective of keeping some 5 ghz devices still on original network?.... or does it not make any difference?

  @Rossy100

Hi, theoretically, the device is supposed to have the same 5GHz network speed from both the Original Main network(5GHz band) and MLO(5GHz band).

Best regards.
