Firmware Version: 1.2.4 Build 20240509 rel.64683(4555)

Hello

For a few months I had my ISP router + a wifi 6 mesh network with ethernet backhaul. I also had an Archer AX53 router. So today I decided to convert my entire network to be managed by tp-link (I bought a Archer AX58, unfortunately V1). I set the Ax58 as main router and the Ax53 as satellite device. I managed to connect them per wi-fi but the location where I want to place the Ax53 is too far away from the Ax58 so I wanted to use ethernet backhaul.

Unfortunately I'm unable to achieve it. The Ax58 only shows the Ax53 connected through wifi eventhough I have a network cable connected between them.

Checking online, I found the list of supported routers. The Ax53 clearly appears there but regarding the Ax58... only the V2 appears. Not a word about the V1.

Is it supposed to work out of the box or should I return the router? I spent half a day around this :(

Thank you very much

Tony

Hi,

This https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/593722?replyId=1385240 is the latest comment that I could find regarding the state of EasyMesh Ethernet backhaul for the Archer AX58 V1.

@woozle thank you for the link. Guess I'll either return the ax58 or just put the ax53 in ap mode.

The sad part is that my limited isp router, which crashes when more than 20 clients connect to it, does support WiFi 6 mesh with Ethernet backhaul. I moved to TP-Link hoping to only use the isp router as a basic bridge.

AP mode isn't so bad in my specific scenario. Only device that complains is my vaacum robot as it memorizes the SSID number and not the name so when moving between areas, it refuses to jump from router to ap :(
