There is no switch between them.

I swapped the 2 LAN ports on the main router (AX55 v1.6). The AX55 v4.6 that had previously restored connectivity and was using ethernet backhaul - again reconnected with ethernet. The other AX55 v4.6 that previously only reconnected with wifi backhaul - again only reconnected with wifi backhaul.

Both of these previously connected with Ethernet backhaul. No other changes have been made other than installing the firmware on the main AX55 v1.6.

There are 3 mesh units total.

ISP modem---pfSense---Trendnet TL2-PG484 switch---WAN port AX55 v1.6---

AX55 v1.6 LAN port 1---AX55 #1 v4.6 WAN port (only connects over wifi if I plug in to LAN 1 or 2)

AX55 v1.6 LAN port 2---AX55 #2 v4.6 WAN port (this one works fine over ethernet backhaul)

I'm not sure what you mean by try switching the network backhaul to ethernet for comparison - I don't see a way to pick using ethernet over wifi.

The strange thing is that the one that isn't working - is still getting the DHCP ip that has a reservation. I've tried resetting it a couple of times, but doesn't ever reconnect with ethernet backhaul.

Hi@JohnR1,

I appreciate your detailed reply.

Let us refer to the satellite router that can run in Ethernet backhaul as 'Unit B' and the other as 'Unit C'.

It is normal for Unit C to obtain the network through wireless backhaul and obtain the reserved IP.

Please remove 'Unit B', then reset 'Unit C' and add it back to the Mesh network as below:

When you add a new satellite router, please don’t configure the satellite and ensure it is in factory mode initially. If it was previously configured, reset the satellite router to its factory defaults.

Then connect your main router’s LAN port to the satellite’s LAN port via an Ethernet cable.

Sorry for the delay. I finally had a chance to try this.

I removed Unit B and powered it off.

I reset Unit C and connected to a LAN port on it this time. I tried connecting to WiFi, but it wouldn't stay connected. In both macOS and iOS i would see it connect and then immediately disconnect. It did this to all wireless devices - it repeatedly would connect/disconnect over and over. This included ones that were back close to the main AX55 v1.6.

I reset Unit C again and tried plugging it back into the WAN port. It worked this tme over Ethernet backhaul.

I added Unit B back using the LAN port. When I did that - I had the same issue with connecting/disconnecting immediately for all devices using WiFi. I checked this time and it seemed the devices using Ethernet were working fine through the AX55's. But it took the entire WiFi network down.

I disconnected Unit B and restarted Unit C, and things worked again.

I had to reset Unit B a couple of times and move it back to using the WAN port. I kept having the issue with the connect/disconnect issue on WiFi. Finally, I reset it again and it was back working.

Just to try something else out - I had an AX21 V4.6 that I don't use any more. I decided to add it as a satellite also. It connected fine. I restarted them all after and I had that same WiFI connect/disconnect immediately again. I removed the AX21 V4.6 and restarted them all and it was working again.

Hi@JohnR1,

Thank  you for getting back to me.

So you should have basically successfully established the Easymesh network now, right? As for Archer AX21, do you want to use it as a satellite router? When restarting the network system, you can wait for a while while the routers reestablish the connection.
