Early Access Pre-release Firmware for Archer GE800/GE550/GE650v1 Supports EasyMesh in AP Mode, DoH&DoT, ECO Mode

Update on Jul 3, 2025:
The official version (1.2.1 for Archer GE800v1, 1.1.1 for Archer GE550v1, and 1.1.0 for Archer GE650v1.6) is being gradually released. Users can check for updates via the router's web interface or through the Tether App to install the latest version manually.
If you cannot find the latest version, please download the firmware from the direct link in the following thread and upgrade it manually:

We will manually lock this post to better focus on discussions regarding the new firmware. We also encourage all users to upgrade to the latest firmware for testing and to provide feedback.

Hello Everyone,
We're thrilled to announce the release of the pre-release firmware for Archer GE800/GE550/GE650 V1. This update introduces wireless driver enhancements for improved system stability and compatibility, along with a lot of new features like DoH/DoT, ECO Mode, and EasyMesh in AP mode. We encourage you to try out this version of firmware and take advantage of the following features. Your feedback and suggestions are greatly appreciated.
New Features and Modifications:
1. Upgraded wireless drivers for enhanced system stability and compatibility.
2. Updated WebUI color scheme from blue-black to red-black.
3. Added RGB Light sync and control in Mesh mode.
4. (Archer GE800 V1 only) Newly added Cooling Control to allow you to select a cooling mode for optimal performance.
You can modify the settings based on your needs by navigating to Advanced > System > Cooling Control.
5. Added EasyMesh feature in AP mode.
6. Newly support EasyMesh Topology Map.
7. Newly support DoH/DoT.
8. Newly support ECO mode.
9. Newly support WebUI in EasyMesh Satellite/Agent mode, providing functions like LED control, reboot, firmware upgrade, and more.
10. Newly support Guest network isolation from the main network in AP mode.
11. Newly support setting Wi-Fi Schedule separately for different Wi-Fi channels.
12. Newly support multi-selection in the Access Control allow list function.
13. Newly support setting the client IP range of the PPTP/L2TP/IPsec VPN server to match the main network's DHCP range.
14. Optimized USB sharing performance.
15. Optimized the overall system stability and performance.
Firmware Download:
Before the Upgrade
(1) Please be sure you have read the Beta Test Agreement before upgrading the pre-release firmware!
(2) For the sake of insurance, it's always recommended to save a copy of the router Backup Config file before upgrading or downgrading.
(3) This pre-release firmware for Archer GE800/GE550/GE650 V1 can be applied to all versions (EU/US/AU/CA/etc).
(4) You may follow the guide to upgrade the firmware of your router. How to Upgrade the Firmware on the TP-Link Wi-Fi Routers.
(5) The screenshots in this article are taken from the web GUI of Archer GE800 V1 for reference only.
(6) This version of software can be degraded to the previous official version.

@tormont Does this mean you can get around 2gbps max up and download on the wifi 7 devices and some wifi 6E capable laptops when the miniPC (with a 1 gigabit ethernet port) only gets 94.85 Mbps download and 104.61 Mbps upload?
Which LAN port do you connect the miniPC to, the 10 Gbps WAN/LAN port or one of the 2.5 Gbps LAN ports? Please try connecting to other LAN ports. For example, if you're connecting to the 10 Gbps WAN/LAN port, please try the 2.5 Gbps LAN.
Do you have other wired PCs or devices that can be connected to the LAN ports of the GE800? Please also try other devices to check if they can work properly with the GE800.
Please also show me a screenshot of the router's CPU load and the status of the Ethernet status (Network Map page > tap the router icon) when the speed is abnormal.
Note: the screenshot is only for reference.
Additionally, please export the configuration file of the GE800 as I asked for JC222 on #51.

And I would like to inform that the Cloudflare FamilyShield over HTTPS(https://family.cloudflare-dns.com/dns-query) is missing from the selection list.
Adding it manually is not working.
Now, if I select the default(https://cloudflare-dns.com/dns-query) from the pre-defined list, it's working properly.
Could you please includes this one ?

@Kevin_Z If I enter manually it in the browser settings, the HTTPS is enabled e.g
But if I use the router HTTPS settings as mencionei, the HTTPS is not recognized, but some wierd behavior happens, the DOT is enable instead the DOH.
Now, if I select one of the predefined DNS from the Dropbox, works perfectly like the default HTTPS DNS Cloudflare.
In my tests, only the FamilyShield(manually entered) is not working.

Basically:
- If enter manually the Cloudflare FamilyShield as DOH, don't work
If enter manually the CF Familyshield as DOT, works properly
- If select the CF DOH from pre-defined selection list, works properly
For some reason the Cloudflare FamilyShield DOH is not working, maybe if includes it as one of the pre-defined options, should work properly.

Hello @Kevin_Z,
I wanted to follow up as I saw the ge550 was affected too. I own a ge800 and when I adjust the bandwidth control for the guest networks, it throttles the non-guest networks and guest networks.
I ended up upgrading to this beta firmware because the stable firmware started dropping my wireless connections.
I can't wait for the final release, it looks promising!
