Firmware Version: 1.0.21

I just bought the C260. It seems that the 4K resolution is just marginally better than my 2K C225 ver. 1 camera.

Should it not be far better?4K vs 2K? On paper that is far better.

I am disappointed.

In low light conditions using daylight mode, the C225 is actually a tiny bit better.

Colors are great on both.

Compared to the C225 ver 2 they are both far better in every  aspect. The C225 v2 is actually terrible.

The good things about the C260:
It has more configuration options and they are smarter and better.

But the resolution is not as expected. This is no real 4K 8MP.  All I have is a resolution that takes up more storage space without the benefit of clearer and sharper images.

Is it just my camera or is the C260 4K 8MP resolution that bad?

  @Blund

Hi,
Usually, you can refer to the following instructions to troubleshoot and improve camera video quality.
Enhance Video Clarity: Troubleshooting Tips for Improving Camera Video Quality

Please confirm the following information if the camera's image quality is still the same.
  1. Have you selected the highest value on the C260's Device Settings > Video & Display > Video Quality page?
  2. On the camera's Live View page, please record a video and download it to your phone, then check its resolution.
  3. Please place the C260 and C225 in the same place, then send us the pictures of the cameras' live view pages to compare. You can upload the pictures to your cloud server (such as Google Drive), generate a download link, and send it to me (@Solla-topee) via a private message.

Best Regards

  @Blund I've the same experience with their C120's @2K they perform better in medium/low light conditions then their next generation 4K cameras (C260 & C460). With static images the 4K cameras perform better, but capturing moving objects their older models perform better. Their next gen 4K cameras suffer from a lot of motion blur and ghosting with moving objects, probably due to bad sensors and or low shutter speeds.

  @Blund C120 @2K vs C260 @4K with slow moving objects in normal lighting conditions. Sure the static portion of the 4K is sharper but the moving object in the 2K is clearer.

  @Solla-topee the sensors of the new 4K cameras are bad. Use better sensors and increase prices next time, and make image preview notifications basic instead of hiding it behind a paid subscription. It puts you at a disadvantage compared to Eufy and makes Tapo less competitive.

  @Martin-TP Well, then we are two customers that are not happy with the C260.

I agree with the blur. The C260 can not even handle slow movement.

@Solla-topee  any verdict for the two pictures yet?

  @Martin-TP

Here are my pictures from the C225 hw rev. 1 and the C260.
They are static, but notice the blur from the leaves right behind the glass railing for the C260.

  @Solla-topee I've returned both the C260 and C460 cameras after testing them extensively head to head against older 2K models in day and night time and many different lighting conditions.
