Model: Deco X20
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.6.1 Build 20250910 Rel. 43292

Hi TP-Link Support,

I am experiencing frequent, random disconnections with my Deco W3600 mesh system (2-unit pack). The units are connected via Ethernet Backhaul.

  • The Issue: The main Deco unit is stable, but the satellite unit frequently drops its connection.
  • System Logs: The satellite unit's log is spamming the following critical error:
daemon.crit tsched[3415]: Stat file save_tmp_config failed; errno(2): No such file or directory
  • Troubleshooting Performed:
    1. Factory Reset: Performed on both units; issue persists.
    2. Unit Swapping: I swapped the physical positions of the main and satellite units. The issue always follows the unit currently acting as the satellite, suggesting a firmware/software bug rather than a hardware defect in one specific unit.
    3. Manual Firmware Update: Forced a manual update to the latest available version; no improvement.
    4. Wiring Check:Verified Ethernet cables and ports
    5. The issue is presist on both wired and wireless backhaul

Kindly advice me what to do

I'm going to have you submit your logs so they can look into this for you. Please submit your logs using the instructions below.

How to submit Deco APP log

Once they have been submitted you should get an email with a TKID number please reply to this post with your TKID number.

Thanks

Need help with the Deco app, setup, Ethernet backhaul, network switch or rolling back firmware? Router or AP mode? https://community.tp-link.com/us/home/forum/topic/699816?page=1

Hi,
You can check if the following instructions help in your case.
Fix unstable connection when connected to the Deco network

Please provide the following information if the same phenomenon persists.
  1. Is the satellite Deco connected to the main Deco directly, or is there a switch between them? If there is a switch, please confirm the switch's model number.
  2. When the satellite Deco drops, what's the LED status on it? Is it flashing red? If the satellite Deco's LED is solid green, do the clients connected to it have an internet connection?
  3. How do you restore the connection of the satellite Deco, such as rebooting it?

Best regards.

Hi Solla-topee,

Thank you for the follow-up and sorry for the delayed response as I have been away.

Regarding the logs, I have already submitted feedback through the app as instructed, but I did not receive an email with a TKID number. Could you please help me look into this or let me know if I should try resending?

To answer your questions and provide more context on the issue:

  1. Network Setup: The units are currently connected via Ethernet backhaul through a TP-Link unmanaged switch. However, the issue persists even when I switch to a wireless backhaul or move the satellite unit to a different room to rule out interference.
  2. Symptoms & LED Status: The satellite unit occasionally flashes red. Even when the LED is solid green, I notice many devices in my Home Assistant setup dropping connection.
  3. Troubleshooting Performed:
    • Rebooting: This only fixes the connection temporarily.
    • Firmware: I have manually reinstalled the firmware, but the "Stat file save_tmp_config failed" critical error remains.
    • App Settings: I noticed that the option to manually select a Wi-Fi channel is missing in the app.

Since the error appears specifically on the satellite unit regardless of the connection method (wired or wireless), it seems to be a software bug within the unit itself. i even tried reset both units and swap primary with satelite but that didnt help either .

Mode: W3600 v1.2 for both , also both at latest firmware 1.6.1 build as in the screenshot

Please let me know the next steps or how I can provide further info without that TKID.

Best regards,
