Hello,

It was brought to our attention by a number of customers of a failure to connect to 5GHz that happens after upgrading Windows OS. What will happen is devices are unable to connect to the 5GHz of the main router, while the 2.4GHz works fine.

If you are experiencing this issue, please get in contact with our technical support staff. They will be able to provide instructions to help update the driver of the network adapter to solve this.

Hello everyone,

If your Wi-Fi network adapter can see 5Ghz Wi-Fi but not able to connect to the 5Ghz Wi-Fi band, here are some basic troubleshooting tips that you could give it a try:

1. Please make sure you have tried the latest TP-Link official driver for the adapter.

https://www.tp-link.com/support/download/

2. Confirm you have put in the correct 5Ghz Wi-Fi password

3. Delete Wi-Fi profile and reconnect to the Wi-Fi network

How to remove existing wireless network profile on Mac

How to connect to wireless networks and remove its profile on Windows 10

4. Try a different 5Ghz Wi-Fi channel on your router to 5Ghz Channel 36,40,44 or 48.

5. Confirm other network devices can connect to the same 5Ghz Wi-Fi when manually put in the 5Ghz Wi-Fi password

6. For some adapters,  try this chipset driver for your TP-Link USB adapter Realtek Chipset Driver for Archer T2U(Nano/ Plus)/T3U(Nano/ Plus)/T4U(Plus)/T4UH/T9UH (Win7/Win10)

As this topic is pretty old and seems to be solved by the Win10 OS version released after 2020 from Microsoft end,  this topic will be closed.

If you need further help, please Start a New Thread for the network adapter, you may share a photo of the error message, model of router and the steps you've tried.

Same for me, please. 2.4 GHz connection works fine, but 5 GHz flaps often, and even when it doesn't, ping time is 3× higher. I hope there's an updated driver available.

Below is a driver you can install to give it a go.

While if still the same, it is suggested to contact our tech support to do further troubleshooting to fix it.

Good day.

@Kevin_Z thanks for the reply.

I was unable to install this driver. Windows 10 complains that the hash for the file is missing. Disabling mandatory driver signing via bcdedit doesn't change anything.

Hello, thanks for your reply. We found that the issue is located on the main router which model number is CH7456LG-LC by analyzing some reported cases, and this issue has been fixed by firmware upgrade at ISP's end.

You can verify the model number of your modem, if it is the same, try to update the firmware and then verify whether you can connect to the 5GHz.

@Kevin_Z

It seems i've  fixed it for the moment.Until now i had my 2.4ghz and 5ghz connection share the same name and password and set the router up to filter my pc to 5ghz only,but i have changed the name of the 5ghz connection and password and allowed my pc to connect to both 2.4ghz and the 5ghz and it seems that this did the trick.However if this fails as well i will come back,now to respond to your questions:spotify premium

1a.I didnt bought it already finished i bought the pieces myself and assambled them myself.

@Kevin_Z

I just got my adapter today and I am having the same problem. I can connect to my 2.4, but it does not even find my 5g service. The adapter can find and see all the other 5g in the area. So I do hope there is a fix coming.

@Peter1959

Hello, what's the model number and hardware version of your adapter?

What's the distance between the adapter and the router? You can try to change the router's 5G channel to 36,40 or 44, change the channel width to 80Mhz. Then restart the adapter.

If it still not working, reinstall the driver.
