Hi.

I have a HS110 home plug that randomly (and very quickly) turns off and on when the plug is in on mode. The opposite does not happen (means if it's off, it's off).

Bought the plug in Sept 2018. Any advice?

Thanks

@Just_a_user @maxinike1  @Edwardon

Hi all,

Some customers are experiencing an auto-reboot issue (randomly goes off and quickly back on in a sec) with the smart plugs/switches, to isolate the problem,

kindly refer to the below suggestions, perform one at a time:

1.    Check and ensure both the Kasa device's firmware and the Kasa app version are up-to-date. If not, update first.

2.    Factory reset the Kasa device by pressing the Reset button for 10 secs, keep it in the factory default state and observe whether it will reboot or not.

3.    Create a new isolated network on your home network and only let Kasa devices to connect to this network.

* About isolated network:

1) If your router supports "Guest Network", please turn on "Guest Network" and you can take it as an isolated network.

2) If your network devices support setting “multi SSID” or “VLAN”, please create a new multi SSID/VLAN, and only let Kasa devices connect to this network. It will isolate Kasa devices too.

3) If you have an old router, please connect the old router behind the main router. Assign the new router a different set of IP addresses (like 10.0.10.1) and then assign some smart plugs and switches to the new router.

 As it is possible that  certain device will cause the Kasa device to reboot. Do not connect your phone or other Wi-Fi devices to that Guest Wi-Fi/ isolated network that Kasa devices is connected to at first and check if the auto-reboot problem stops or not.

If the issue is gone after you created an isolated network,  you could connect mobile phone and other Wi-Fi devices gradually see if any certain device will trigger this reboot issue.

4.    If your network is a Mesh network, please try to turn off the fast roaming or  beam forming  function on your mesh router.

5.    If your router is Arris TG1682G, please try connecting the Kasa device to a different model of router or Wi-Fi extender.

6.   If you have Away Mode settings for Kasa device, please turn it off.

If you have tried  the above steps and find the issue stops or persists, please feel free to email us at support@tp-link.com with  Subject  Tp-link Forum _ Reboot“  and we  will have a specialist to follow up on your case.  Thank you very much!

Please kindly share and attach some information that could help with your case in the email:

1)  The above troubleshooting you have tried and the results

2)  The network topology of your home:  like modem—router—AP.   More detailed network topology helps more,  like the model of network devices and the network segment, like 192.168.1.0.

3)  The specific model of router: like TP-Link Archer A7

4) The frequency of auto-reboot :

5)  Are there other Kasa devices that can work normally?

Is your firmware the latest one? If not, you can try to upgrade firmware.

And you can try to move the HS110 in different power socket to have a check. If you have not used the other clients, you can change the clients as well to test whether the HS110 still have the same issue.

Thanks for your reply.

I don't see any firmware update available on the kasa app.

I forgot to mentioned, it was working ok for the past few months at the same plug point. The issue started this week.

Failure went up a notch. I can see the power goes on/off on the plug indicator using the app, but I don't hear the relay sound and there is no power output at all. Pressing it manually is the same. The button  indicator switches colour, but no power from output. Something wrong with the plug physically.

Yea sounds like a hardware issue to me. Might need to replace it. I believe TPLink offers a 1 year warranty. Ryan

@chengfatt

Hey, did you ever get to the bottom of this? One of my plugs has just started doing this today.

I've performed a factory reset on it, moved it to a new socket, different fans plugged into it.

After a minute or two, it just turns off.

The wifi light is still on, and I can turn it on again, but it'll turn off not long after.

Strangely, I'm trying those fans on the other 2 H110s I have, and the same problem exists on one of them but not the third.

So 2 out of 3 of my plugs are having this issue. One of those doesn't get used much, but it was running all night a couple of nights ago.

Hoping you came to some resolution.

@Oldjuju

Hi Cam, are they all V3? What are their firmware versions?

WIth the HS110 plugged only, does this issue happen again? What is the model number of the appliance and its power consumption?

Considering the third one works well, you can swap the locations.

And you can hard reset the HS110 and reconfigure them to give it a go.

Besides, may I know when and where did you buy this smart plugs?

Good day.

I too have this issue. Happened twice since I bought it a few days ago.

Somewhat annoying as my 3d printer uses it, and when it randomly turns off in the middle of a 24hr print..it's annoying

Hi Kevin,

thanks for the reply.

I'm embarrased to say that after further investigation it was user error.

I use node-red to interact with these plugs and found I had poor logic when communicating to the 2 plugs when they were turning off. Which is also why the 3rd one was working fine.

I've since fixed my node-red logic and have not had an issue since.

I should have updated this thread.

@gelshx

Hi, what's the power consumption and electric current of your PC? When the issue happens, what's the light status on the plug?

Did you use the plug with this PC before? Please test the plug with other low power appliances, such as the lamp.

Good day.
