Doorbell camera does NOT record requested events or length!!!
2023-11-24 02:17:05
Model: Tapo D230S1
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.12

This camera is a constant headache!!!!

It NEVER records the request length of time for events. Settings are:

TAPO CARE premium

Storage and Recording ->

clip settings->

Retrigger time: 2 sec

Record buffer: 10 sec

Maximum clip length: 60 sec

Today, Got a notificiation of "person detected" with a thumbnail of a stranger at the door.

On TAPO Care video, there is only ONE clip: Starts with a suspicious car suddenly backed up into our driveway, unknow suspect standing outside the car, walking up to our door and taking a picture... and then, THE RECORDING STOPS!!!!!

There's no further recording.

How long was the person there??

What's the car's registration number??

What else did they do in our house??

This is unacceptable. The sole purpose of buying that doorbell camera was security, but this does NOTHING.

Can this be fixed, or is the hardware deficient?

  @leokiosu

Hi,
On the Tapo D230's Device Settings>Detection page, you can set up the Wake-up Sensitivity to the highest one and also set other enabled detection types' Sensitivity to the highest one, then check if the camera will work better.

About the reported issue, please help confirm the following information for further analysis.
1. Can you send us a picture of the camera's Live View page and the cloud video clip described in your article?
2. Please go to the camera's Device Settings page on the Tapo app and go to the Device Info page to find its MAC address.
(You can upload the picture and video clip to your cloud server(such as Google Drive) and generate a link, then send me the MAC address and the link to download the picture and video clip via a private message. )

Best Regards
