You can try this format in VLC—it works for me. After hitting play, VLC will prompt you to enter the username and password for the camera account.

I funallly figured out the problem.  I hope others can benefit from what I learned, My problem was with the D130 doorbell camera.  i have multiple C120's that stream via rtsp at 640x360.  When I tried to setup my D130, it offered "Stream8" at 640x320.  However, it cannot support that resolution and the stream is constantly interrupted.  Higher resolutions work fine though.  TPLink should either support that resolution or not offer it!

Hello, I have have a Tapo C520WS

Hardware version 1.0

Firmware 1.3.2

It's been working fantastic with RTSP on VLC for 4 months everyday 24/7 no problems...but today I came home and live feed stopped on vlc, i tried to open the stream again - gives me failed to connect message, and I do not get a pop up to login anymore.

I tried EVERYTHING from most basic troubleshooting to advanced stuff like command prompt and telnet, plus more...maybe its a port issue or firmware issue?

The Camera works on the Tapo app.

Used to work on iSpy, VLC, everything perfectly with 0 issues...Now doesnt work on anything onvif, rtsp, nothing...i cannot get it to connect to the camera

Anything else I can try?

I just have basic wifi, no advanced network setups.

I've factory reset it, reset the wifi, reset the account, etc etc...

Thank you

Hi,

1. If you stream the camera in the local network, the problem is usually not related to the ports, and there has been no new firmware released to the Tapo C520WS V1 recently.

2. In your case, please describe your network diagram, and check if you can ping the camera's IP address on the device installed in the VLC or iSpy app.

3. Has the camera subscribed to the Tapo Care service and inserted an SD card?

4. How many devices stream the camera's live feed simultaneously? In the local network or remotely?

Best Regards

2. I've pinged the camera and 0% loss. Not sure what you mean by network diagram? I just have a basic wifi that camera connects to it...

3. No i dont have subscription, just sd card.

4. Only 1 stream...

I did in command prompt, telnet 192.168.12.198 554 and it is unable to see/connect to the port.

  @Solla-topee

I tried port forwarding to access the camera from another network, and it worked successfully.

I have a follow-up question:
If I have multiple CCTV cameras connected under the same public IP, can I still use port forwarding by assigning different ports (like 554 and 2020) for each device? Will that work properly?

Also, does it help to set different account IDs for each camera? What happens if the account IDs are the same — could that cause any issues?

Best regards,
