I honestly don't get why this hasn't been implemented in the app yet. It's been years in the asking. Yet still NOTHING!

I know this can be done in Home Assistant, but why should we? We buy an energy monitoring smart plug, but it doesn't alert us to anything unless we open the app to check? It's like having a security camera that doesn't alert you that someone is there robbing your house - instead you have to go through the footage after the fact. Totally pointless!

@Vittorrio completely agree, not sure what the point of putting in feature requests when so many people upvote it and Tapo does not respond. 🫤

I only bought the P110 because I (reasonably) assumed the whole point of energy monitoring was so you could trigger events on it. Unfortunately, I bought three before I realized this isn't an option! I posted my request for this feature eight months ago and I've just heard crickets in response.

I looked at "Home Assistant" but because it needs a dedicated device to act as a hub, it won't really work for me. ☹️

Given my experience, I will not recommend Tapo home automation products in the future.

This would be great to be able to send a notification once an appliance finishes running

Does anyone know of a smart plug that will actually do what we're asking for? I've completely lost faith in TP-Link (for their smart plugs at least). We've been asking for this for a long time and...silence. They don't even seem to monitor their own forums in the same way that Amazon do. USELESS!

I, for one, will no longer be buying their smart plugs and will no longer recommend them to others.

I want to trigger a push notification if e.g. my washing machine smart plug consumption goes from over to under 5W or so, to know that it is done. This would be insanely useful.

I would like to request this function please. I would use it to create an automation so that when my TV turns on it would turn on my TV ambient light. I currently can't do this as the TV constantly shows as on as it draws 2W in standby. So if the plug could detect when power usage is >10W it could activate another device.

I would love it if my Tapo plug would alert me when my washing machine finishes its cycle via Alexa or Home Assistant, like when it drops below a certain wattage. Hopefully this gets implemented as it'd been a long time in the asking. Thanks

I have p110m model, I bought 3 of them only for this feature, and turns out it does not. I have water pressure pump and I want to get notification when it it on and it is impossible with the current triggers. Because device is always on (on idle) , when the pump kicks in wattage goes 0.1 to 560w so i wanted get notification each time watt goes up. It is impossible and I am very disappointed with this item.

How is this not standard? Would make these super useful for knowing when washing machines etc have finished running.

Agreed. Remember to upvote this thread folks. Maybe they'll take notice and do something about it.

Knowing my luck, they'll release another plug that does everything we want, so we have to buy again. Haha
