Tapo C225 camera cannot pair to Wifi 6 router
I bought a Tapo C225 V2.EU (version) camera and am trying to pair it with a router on a 2.4 bandwidth. Let me describe what I followed:
1) I noticed that my wifi had the band steering mode on. Thus I turned it off and created two different MAIN networks (2.4 and 5). Each network has a separate SSID and a password.
2) After disabling the band steering mode, I assured both networks had WPA/WPA2-personal security.
3) Then I followed the instructions of the Tapo APP (Android) and everything worked as expected, except the last part of PAIRING the device with the router.
- Bluetooth pair -> DONE
- Wifi identification (2.4) -> DONE
- Wifi connection (with voice instructions) -> DONE
- Device PAIR -> Failed.
While searching online I also found a different way to select the Tap_XXX_XXX network from my wifi settings. Even though I found the network while connecting, I noticed that the network was in wifi 4 (version) while my router is wifi 6 and also the network SSID Tapo_XXX_XXX did not broadcast connectivity.
Thus, I tried the whole process again with my mobile HOTSPOT. I turned my mobile device to a hotspot and followed the app instructions. Everything worked as expected. But this is not my ideal scenario because I want a wifi connectivity, not a mobile hotspot.
My Wifi settings have the following configuration:
* Mac address filtering is disabled
* Band steering is off
* Network channel set to [1,6,11] -> mine is set to 6
* Network Encryption is set to WPA or WPA2 (NOT WPA3)
* Client isolation is disabled
* Never configured port blocking
* Network password has been checked multiple times.

@Wayne-TP i'm having the same issue and I'm from the Netherlands with ODIDO as my ISP and using the Zyxel T-56. I've contacted TP- Link customer support and they said I should contact my ISP for this issue.
Could you also please share with me the beta firmware as well as how to install it?

This solution may not apply to you as the ISP, and especially the router model is different.
You may try out the suggestions here first. What should I do if I fail to configure Tapo Camera?

@Wayne-TP thank Wayne. Unfotunately, the points mentioned in the link doesn't solve the issue.
Similar to fellow community members that have posted here in this thread, I'm experiencing the following:
Set-up:
Modem: Zyxel T-56
2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands are split
Encryption WPA2/WPA3
No MAC Filtering or special configuration in the router
Camera: Tapo C225 V2
Additional info: I have 1xC200, 1xC420, 6xT110, 4xP110, 1xH200 connected to my home network and unfortunately only the C225 is having problems.
Issue:
1. During setup, C225 confirms "connected to WiFi"
2. Gets stuck while pairing then fails
Things I've tried:
1. When I use my phone in tether mode and try to perform the setup via that connection then it succeeds.
2. In my router, I changed the IP address range from 192.168.1.XXX to 192.168.0.XXX because the router is automatically assigning 192.168.0.10 which is outside the IP range. Now the camera setup completes, however, after 2-3 mins the camera disconnects (slowly blinking red light). Tapo App becomes also unresponsive.
3. I've added a static DHCP for the device's MAC to 192.168.0.10 and when the Camera disconnects after 2-3mins I see that the IP address is changed to 169.254.XX.XX for some reason.
Please let me know if there's anything I could try further.

I'm having the issues, speedport plus 2 from Cosmote, (latest fiber black model), only I'm not seeing any of the dchp stuff on the settings. Also how do I do the whole 1 to 0 thing? The camera says connected to wi-fi but then it wil not pair, the router is on wpa+wpa2 so it's not wp3-only.

@Wayne-TP Hi Wayne, I've successfully installed the beta firmware during 2-3 minute window using my current connection. So far it seems that the issue is now solved!

Hello folks,
Word for word I have the exact same issue as @lwrnzs , Odido Zyxel router and C225 camera that kind of connects to the router, but gets assigned 192.168.0.10 while the range of the router is in the .1.x range, and when I change the DHCP range the camera gets a totally different IP. I tried all the possible solutions that are already mentioned in this thread but none of them work. Could you help me please?

Can i please have a copy of the custom firmware and instructions on how to install it? Same situation with Cosmote router. less than 2 minutes of capture. DHCP set to 192.168.0.x
[edit] you should really push this firmware out of beta, you are getting scathing reviews on various portals due to connectivity issues.

Same issue here on my C225V2, connection drops after roughly ~60seconds and camera goes to blinking RED mode. After I unplug and plug camera back in it works and after same time connection is dropped.
I've set reserved IP address for camera MAC to 192.168.0.25, band steering disabled and 2.4G / 5G networks are separate. Connected straight to ISP router SDMC NE6037.
I have ran out of steps to troubleshoot, would be great if tplink engineer could reach out for fix.
