Tapo C520WS ONVIF motion detection not working
Hello.
I am using Tapo C520WS connected to QVR Pro 2.5 of QNAP TS-264.
I've tried various things and ONVIF motion detection doesn't seem to work.
Of course, motion detection is turned on in the Tapo app, and I have confirmed with QNAP support that the settings on QNAP QVR Pro are correct.
According to QNAP support, it is a problem on the TP-LINK side.
Is it possible to fix the ONVIF motion detection problem with a firmware update?
Below is the email I received from QNAP Support.
"After checking with the internal camera integration department, it was found that some TP-Link cameras have compatibility issues with the ONVIF standard, leading to motion detection not working on third-party NAS systems via ONVIF. This is why these camera models are not listed in the QNAP camera compatibility list, as camera integration for those TP-Link cameras was halted due to these compatibility issues with motion detection via ONVIF.
Therefore, our engineer recommends that you report this issue to the TP-Link camera manufacturer and inquire if any new firmware is available to resolve the problem. "
thank you.

Hi,
The latest official firmware for the Tapo C320WS V2 is 1.1.15 Build 240605 Rel.49436n, you can go to the Tapo app > camera's Device Settings > Device Info > Firmware page to see the camera's firmware version info.

Until last week, the beta firmware was working fine in both ZoneMinder and ODM. Now neither can subscribe. ODM gets a (400) Bad Request and ZoneMinder gets SOAP errors SOAP_CLI_FAULT and SOAP_MUST_UNDERSTAND.
Firmware still reports as 1.2.8 Build 240722 Rel 40182n

Hi,
Do you have any problems viewing the camera's live feed via onvif? Did you update your ZoneMinder and ODM version before the problem occurred?
There is no change on the camera, and the problem may be caused by changes in your network or ZoneMinder/ODM.

No, no updates. I can view the streams and the onvif PTZ controls still work.
Here is the SOAP communication with the camera:
I can provide XML SOAP dumps of the communication. This forum won't let me post it due to links, but in the response there is:
<wsnt:CurrentTime>1970-01-01T00:00:00Z</wsnt:CurrentTime><wsnt:TerminationTime>1970-01-01T00:00:00Z</wsnt:TerminationTime>
It appears to think it is 1970-01-01T00:00:00Z. The time shown in the video is current though.

Hi,
If the date & time displayed on the Tapo app >camera's Live View page and on the ZoneMinder/ODM > camera's Live View page are correct, and the date & time is correct when you receive a detection notification on your phone, please try to remove the camera from the ZoneMinder/ODM, establish the RTSP/Onvif connection again, and then check if the Onvif motion detection is working.
