Model: Tapo C120
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I have two tapo C120 cameras, bought and set up about four months ago.

The one in the kitchen would sometimes stop working, but usually managed to get it going again. I was using a BT Wholehome disc to extend the signal.

Today I had fiber broadband installed which came with different discs.

The camera in the sitting room is fine. Seemless switch over. But the one in the kitchen won't work. When I get to the stage where I have to connect to the tapo local network it's sahing 'no internet connection'.

I tried the following:

resetting the camera

Taking the camera to a spot nearer to the router and resetting it.

Taking the camera into the hall so that it's right next to the router and a wifi disc.

Rebooting the internet and resettting the camera.

My last resort will be to reinstall the original BT disccs (although I was told they are not compatibile, worth a try) but I am wondering if it might be the camera that's at fault.

Clearly the internet is working (I am connected on my laptop and the sitting room camera is working fine).

The firmware was up to date, and is still for the remaining connected camera.

Any suggestions?

  @REMF

Hi,
Below are the instructions for setting up a Tapo camera, and you can follow the steps carefully to configure your camera.
How to set up the Tapo camera

As you can see in Step 3 > point 3, you need to connect your phone to the default SSID(Tapo_Cam_XXXX) of the camera, and this Wi-Fi internet has no internet access. However, after you go back to the Tapo app, the Tapo app will search and find your camera on the Tapo app, and then you can follow the guide to connect the camera to your home Wi-Fi on the Tapo app.

Best Regards

Hi,
You can refer to the instructions below to troubleshoot when failing to set up the camera.
What should I do if I fail to configure Tapo Camera?

Please confirm the following information if the problem remains.
  1. What's the LED status on the camera when you start configuring it? Is it flashing green and red?
  2. Do you have a problem when connecting to the default SSID of the camera, or router's Wi-Fi?
  3. You can try to enable a hotspot Wi-Fi on your phone, factory reset the camera, configure it with another phone, connect it to the hotspot Wi-Fi, and then check if you can set it up successfully.

Best Regards

Thanks for replying. In response 1. the light is flashing red and green I don't know how to answer the other questions. I go through the instructions on the app but when I try to connect to the tapo wifi it says no internet connection. The wifi is working fine, and my other tapo camera - same model - works fine on it. What does it mean to connect to the default SSID? Do you mean just my router? re 3. do you mean get it to connect to a mobile hotspot instead of my router? I am not sure how to do 3. Do you meant use my phone instead of my house wifi. Apologies for ignorance, but I don't spend a lot of time doing technical computer-based stuff.
