Windows 10 control of C210 camera
Windows 10 control of C210 camera

Hello,
I want to setup with windows 10 - I don't have any sort of smartphone that can be used for this. Can anyone tell me how to set up with Windows 10? I can run VLC player and any windows software needed for displaying the image, getting the camera connected to WiFi, and pan/tilt control etc
If someone could tell me how to do this on Windows 10, thanks

Hi,
We don't have instructions to set up the Tapo camera on a Windows PC/laptop, and based on the information we have, it's required a smart phone to set up the Tapo camera. If you only have a Windows PC, you may contact your retailer to check if you can return the Tapo camera and buy another one that can be configured with a PC.
The default SSID of the camera is used to configure the camera, as you can see the "Step 3. Set up the camera > point 3" in the following setup instructions, after a phone connects to the default SSID of the camera, then on the Tapo app, the phone can find the camera to connect it to your home Wi-Fi.
How to set up the Tapo camera
However, in the situation that a phone connects to the default SSID of the camera, the phone is unable to access the camera or set a password for the SSID, it's unable to change anything for the SSID, and there is no security issue.
By the way, the default SSID includes the last four letters of the camera's MAC address, but these letters cannot be traced back to the camera's MAC.
Best Regards

Android emulators allow you to run the Play Store.
You can then access Google Play, search for and install apps and games just like you would on an Android phone or tablet.

I've sent Tapo an email, the procedure of what to do isn't obvious from here.
If I can't get the camera working from Windows 10, I'll have to send it back, which would be unfortunate.

I have got the app running on the windows emulator (I had to go through another link which wasn't the one I was in before)
The cam is flashing red/green (apparently in setup mode)
my emulator screen shows this;
When I enter SSID as Tapo_Cam_[last 4 digits of the MAC addrfess] nothing happens?
also, right now the camera has no password and is a wifi hotspot, so anyone within SSID distance can apparently connect to it - so this needs to be changed

I'm running bluestacks android emulator with the tapo app on my W10 pc and it really works very well. But my tapo devices all had been installed before, so that I only had to log in into the app on my W10 pc to see and control the devices. I never had to install a tapo device via bluestacks.
Do you have a chance, that somebody with a smartphone can help you? Means, that he is installing the app on his phone, log in with your account and then install/connect the cam to your WLAN?
But with the chaos at the tapo system at the moment (all devices not available via mobile network only via WLAN - at least here in Germany), I wouldn't do anything now and wait til this problem is solved - hopefully in a few hours. But as tapo is not very communicative at the moment, I fear that all the specialists at tapo still not really do know what has happened.
