Windows 10 control of C210 camera
Windows 10 control of C210 camera

Hello,
I want to setup with windows 10 - I don't have any sort of smartphone that can be used for this. Can anyone tell me how to set up with Windows 10? I can run VLC player and any windows software needed for displaying the image, getting the camera connected to WiFi, and pan/tilt control etc
If someone could tell me how to do this on Windows 10, thanks

Hello - thanks for thr reply. I've got about 2 weeks to get it running before my returns window closes, so I have 2 weeks to get it working. if not (attention for anyone its relevant to).......back it goes
I've also downloaded Bluestacks as well as Nox, and it's basically doing the same thing. I don't know if the android emulator is having "difficulty" seeing my laptops Wifi or something.....
I've emailed Tapo. maybe they can help. I can't say I'm holding my breath. Tapo - impress me!

thanks.
Basically, sitaution is. I have Nox and Bluestacks installed as Windows 10 emulators. I've got the Tapo app installed on both emulators, but the app does not appear to be able to see the Wifi source coming from the camera.
I'd actually never heard of Tapo before.... (I may or may not have been out of the tech market for a while---depending on the type of gadget bought)
so I "just" need Windows 10 software to interface with the camera.
if it isn't going after 2 weeks....back it goes
This morning, as I realised the Cam acts as a wifi source, that's a huge security issue.
So you just plug in the cam, and the moment it has power, local neighbourhood can see your cam as a wifi source with no password. and view/control it, presumably.

Hi,
Currently, it's unable to set up the camera on a Windows computer, it's required to download the Tapo app on a phone to set up the camera. After that, you can watch the camera's live feed on a PC via RTSP/Onvif connection.
How to view Tapo camera on PC/NAS/NVR through RTSP/Onvif Protocol
The default SSID of the camera is an unsecured Wi-Fi, however, it's used to configure the camera, and will disappear once the camera is configured successfully.

hello, thanks. it seems like the app on the emulator can't access the camera - unless someone can assist and provide a walk through of how I set the emulator to detect the camera
Tapo need to know, this unsecured wifi is a massive security issue. what happens if I plug the camera in, am unable to configure (as I currently am unable to) and a neighbour spots the camera, jumps in and accesses it from 2 doors down and sets their own password? I would lose control of my own product. and it says the MAC address of the camera on the Wifi list. Tapo didn't think of that, did they?
I need to be able to set up and configure the cam only with Windows 10 (emulators are installed)
I'm guessing the Tapo wifi device should appear here.....but it isn't?

Hi,
We don't have instructions to set up the Tapo camera on a Windows PC/laptop, and based on the information we have, it's required a smart phone to set up the Tapo camera. If you only have a Windows PC, you may contact your retailer to check if you can return the Tapo camera and buy another one that can be configured with a PC.
The default SSID of the camera is used to configure the camera, as you can see the "Step 3. Set up the camera > point 3" in the following setup instructions, after a phone connects to the default SSID of the camera, then on the Tapo app, the phone can find the camera to connect it to your home Wi-Fi.
How to set up the Tapo camera
However, in the situation that a phone connects to the default SSID of the camera, the phone is unable to access the camera or set a password for the SSID, it's unable to change anything for the SSID, and there is no security issue.
By the way, the default SSID includes the last four letters of the camera's MAC address, but these letters cannot be traced back to the camera's MAC.
Best Regards
