Hello,

 

I’m experiencing playback issues with my Tapo C325WB camera. When playing recordings from the cloud, the video lags and frames are skipping. This happens both at 720p and 2K resolutions.

 

I’m using an LTE modem in a rural area, with a signal strength of around -80 dBm. Live streaming at 720p works fine, but 2K live streaming lags, which I understand may be due to the limited internet speed.

 

However, I’m surprised that even 720p cloud recordings are lagging during playback. Could you please advise if there is any way to improve the performance, or if this issue might be related to how the cloud recordings are processed or streamed?

Hi,
The quality of the video clips stored on our cloud server is not limited by the camera's video quality settings. They will always use the maximum resolution supported by the camera (2K in your camera).

 

In your situation, the Wi-Fi signal of the camera is too weak. It's recommended to move the camera and the router closer, or you can connect your camera to your router by an ethernet cable and check if it helps.

Thank you for response. The WiFi is not the problem but the LTE signal is. Is there a way to set up cloud motion recording to record in 720p instead of 2k? It would solve my issue.

Hi,
Currently, there is no option to change the video quality of the cloud video clips.


The Wi-Fi signal strength(-80dBm) shown on the Tapo camera displays the signal between the LTE modem and the camera. A poor LTE signal will affect the camera viewing, and a poor Wi-Fi connection signal will also affect the camera. It is recommended to move the camera closer to the modem, preferably with a wired connection to the modem to see if there will be any improvement.
