Is there a solution to the following Tapo app Google Home integration problems:

 

1. There are no automations permitted within Google Home for this doorbell, only a Voice Notifications permission on/off toggle.


2. Person detection notifications are continuing to be received on Google Home and broadcast to connected speakers. Trying to ONLY to receive broadcast notifications when doorbell is pressed.

 

Tapo app is properly connected to GH.

 

Notifications for event detection events are turned OFF in the Tapo app for doorbell currently.

Hi,
In your usage scenario, you may turn off the Voice Notifications feature and add an automation entry in the Google Home app by following the steps below.


  1. Go to the Google Home app > Automations page, tap the "+" icon at the top right corner.
  2. Tap Automation, click the "three-dots" icon at the top right corner, and go to the Previous household editor.
  3. Tap Add starter > When a device does something > select Tapo D235 > Doorbell Rings
  4. Tap Add action, click Communicate and announce, and configure the action settings.
  5. Customize a routine name and save the settings.

Thanks for this! I did set up the automation as suggested but am finding that communication is going out to home speakers when a person is detected in addition to the doorbell being rung. In other words Google Home automation doesn't seem to differentiate between doorbell press and person detection. My only thought is to test turning off Person Detection in Detection Zones in the Tapo app, which I'll test, but these compatibility issues mean not being able to fully benefit from the Tapo doorbell/app event detection features.

Also have turned off all event detection since doorbell is in always on due to hardwiring to see if that eliminates the person detection broadcast. So far it hasn't.
