Google Home Integration needed
Google Home Integration needed
Is there a solution to the following Tapo app Google Home integration problems:
1. There are no automations permitted within Google Home for this doorbell, only a Voice Notifications permission on/off toggle.
 2. Person detection notifications are continuing to be received on Google Home and broadcast to connected speakers. Trying to ONLY to receive broadcast notifications when doorbell is pressed.
Tapo app is properly connected to GH.
Notifications for event detection events are turned OFF in the Tapo app for doorbell currently.

Hi,
In your usage scenario, you may turn off the Voice Notifications feature and add an automation entry in the Google Home app by following the steps below.
   1. Go to the Google Home app > Automations page, tap the "+" icon at the top right corner.
   2. Tap Automation, click the "three-dots" icon at the top right corner, and go to the Previous household editor.
   3. Tap Add starter > When a device does something > select Tapo D235 > Doorbell Rings
   4. Tap Add action, click Communicate and announce, and configure the action settings.
   5. Customize a routine name and save the settings.

Hi,
Please double-check the following information for the reported phenomenon.
1. On the Google Home app > Tapo D235's page, have you turned off the Voice Notifications feature?
   2. On the Tapo app > camera's Device Settings > Detection page, do you mean if you turn off all detection types, such as turn off the motion detection and person detection options, the Google Home speaker will also announce voice when a person moves in front of the camera? Usually, if all detection types are turned off on the camera's Detection page in the Tapo app, the camera won't detect any event.
   3. If the Google Home speakers broadcast voice even if the detection types are turned off in the Tapo app, please send me (@Solla-topee) the camera's MAC address via a private message, when (date, time, and time zone) did you hear the voice, and what the speakers said?

@Solla-topee It looks like I had still needed to turn off the package event detection as well within the Detection feature to eliminate all detections and this has resulted in no longer getting the broadcast of motion and person detection.
Thanks

Hi,
I have some questions about your devices' settings and would appreciate your confirmation so I can provide further suggestions. Thank you!
1. On the Tapo app > camera's Device Settings > Detection page, which detection types are enabled? Is the Notification feature in the Tapo app for the camera enabled?
   2. On the Google Home app > Tapo D235's page, have you turned off the Voice Notifications feature? Have you already added the automation entry described in this post?

   3. What specific scenario are you aiming to implement? For example, do you want the Google speakers to broadcast a voice only when someone rings the doorbell, or is it something else?
How does the current setup actually perform?
Best Regards

1. On the Tapo app > camera's Device Settings > Detection page, which detection types are enabled? Is the Notification feature in the Tapo app for the camera enabled?
- Settings on TAPO app: All event detection and notifications are OFF to achieve solution with enabling voice broadcast on Google Home with ONLY doorbell press.
2. On the Google Home app > Tapo D235's page, have you turned off the Voice Notifications feature? Have you already added the automation entry described in this post?
- Yes, Voice Notifications feature is turned off. Employed automation as suggested.
   3. What specific scenario are you aiming to implement? For example, do you want the Google speakers to broadcast a voice only when someone rings the doorbell, or is it something else?
- I would like the Google speakers to broadcast only when someone rings the doorbell, not when there are detection events. I would still like the TAPO doorbell to record events from detection of people, motion and package which it cannot do with event detection turned off to satisfy the ability to limit voice broadcast to doorbell ring per automation that has been set-up.
How does the current setup actually perform?
 - KEY problem with above settings currently:  While voice broadcasting is now limited to doorbell ring, NO recordings are being processed on TAPO D235 given no event detection can be turned on in the TAPO app without triggering original problem which is the event broadcast over Google Home speakers of non-doorbell ring events.

Hi,
Thank you very much for the information provided. In your situation, please check if the Tapo D235 and the Google Home speakers are assigned to the same room in the Google Home app. If so, move the Tapo D235 to a different room, ensure the Voice Notifications feature is turned off, and then check whether the speakers broadcast notifications when the camera detects events.
Please send us a screenshot of the page showing that the Voice Notifications feature is turned off for the D235 in the Google Home app, if possible.

The Doorbell is in a separate Google Home room from all speakers that are Google Home connected.
See attached of Voice Notifications in Google Home turned off.
Will retest turning Event detections on again to see if issue still occur; but at this time due to having event detection off, cannot get event capture even with the Always On feature enabled.
Not sure if there would be different result with the Always On feature turned off and how having it off would impact Live viewing. Can test this as well later.
Thnx

Hi,
Thank you for your attempt. Please feel free to reply if there are any updates.
Usually, turning off the Always On feature won't affect the ability to view the camera's live feed in the Tapo app; however, the camera will then work as a battery-powered camera, and PIR detection will take effect.
What is the Wake-up Sensitivity of my battery camera/doorbell?

When the Always On feature is enabled, you can refer to the instructions below to enable the continuous recording feature (the camera will record continuously even if the detection feature is disabled). However, the continuous recording feature is not supported when the Always On feature is disabled.
How can I store the Tapo camera video recordings on a microSD card
