Hello TP-Link Team and Community,

After updating my Tapo C220 camera to firmware versions 1.4.1 and 1.6.0, I have noticed a major drop in overall performance and stability.

Before these updates (on firmware v1.3.2), everything was working very smoothly — tracking, rotation, and connectivity were all perfect.

After the firmware update, I tested the camera for about a week using the Tapo app, and below is my final test report of the problems I found:

🔹 Issues After Update:

  1. Slow performance and tracking delay: The camera has become very slow. During person tracking, it sometimes stops following midway or fails to return to its default/home position.

  2. Laggy movement: While rotating or moving, the camera response is delayed and not smooth — it lags and stutters during rotation.

  3. Smart Action bugs: When auto-tracking is scheduled, the camera often does not return to its default position after tracking ends.

  4. Weak network signal: After the update, the RSSI signal became weaker — previously it stayed around -32 dBm (very stable), now it stays near -42 dBm or higher, and I often get “network unstable” popup messages.

  5. Live feed and playback delay: When opening the live view, the loading circle keeps spinning for a few seconds before the feed starts. The same happens when I click on Playback or Download — there is a noticeable delay and lag before the preview loads.

  6. Audio glitch in live or recorded feed : The sound in live view is not clear — it breaks frequently, plays in short bursts (“ruk ruk kar / atak atak kar”), and sometimes completely cuts off for a few seconds.

For reference, my internet connection is a 200 Mbps stable fiber connection, and the camera is placed very close to the router. So, the issue is not related to my network setup.
All these problems only appeared after upgrading to firmware v1.4.1 / v1.6.0.
On the older firmware v1.3.2, everything was fast, stable, and responsive.

🔧 Request:

Please look into these issues and optimize the new firmware, or allow users to downgrade to firmware version 1.3.2, which had excellent performance, audio, and connectivity.

As proof, I am including a couple of video footage links along with this post showing the mentioned issues clearly.

Thank you for your attention and support.🙏
