Recording when network link goes down
Recording when network link goes down
I have been advised that the C520WS only tracks and records to the SD card while it is connected to a local network. Is this correct? What if the local network goes down - for example, if my camera is connected to a hotspot from my mobile phone which is deactivated when I go away from the house?

Hi,
1. If your camera is configured successfully to connect to your phone's hotspot Wi-Fi, then you connect it to the router by an ethernet cable, the Wi-Fi connection between the camera and the phone's hotspot will disconnect. However, if you disconnect the camera from the router, it will try to reconnect to the phone's hotspot Wi-Fi if it's available. If the camera fails to reconnect to the phone's hotspot, you can usually try rebooting the camera to see if it reconnects.
2. If the camera is successfully configured and connected to your phone's hotspot Wi-Fi to go to the internet, you can control it on your phone and iPad with the Tapo app.
Best Regards

@Solla-topee Thank you again for your response. Please confirm whether rebooting the camera means doing a factory reset?

@MikeSC60 Nope, rebooting the camera means turning the camera off and on.

@Solla-topee there is a reboot option in the app. Is this a softer reboot and would it be equivalent to turning the camera off and on again to try and re-establish a connection if necessary? Ah... it could not be used if there were no connection! So what is it for?
