When I first got these cameras (pre firmware 1.4.1... I think it was 1.3.7?) I was briefly able to view the feed steam via Google Home app Favourites screen.

 

Since 1.4.1, I was unable to view feed stream in Favourites screen but could still view feed if I viewed the devices directly, in Google Home app. 

 

Since latest firmware update 1.5.1 I can now no longer view anything in Google Home app at all. 

 

Being able to see everything in Google Home app was the whole reason I switched from Grid Connect to Tapo in the first place... Now, it's turning out to be a waste of money, just like Grid Connect, as the functionality isn't what it was purported to be. You shouldn't be advertising "works with Google Home" if it doesn't or you're going to take away functionality like this appears to be.

The Public Preview in Google Home offers currently in-development features for users who opt into the program.
The features added through this program will often have limited compatibility, require further updates before they are officially supported, or may break due to changes in the feature's implementation during development.

The "Access live streams for Works with Google cameras" feature is under the Public Preview program. It's still under development by Google and is not available for all cameras and brands.
Our teams are aware that the feature is currently not available for Tapo Cameras and are in close communication with Google regarding future compatibility.

 

Regarding the "works with Google Home" advertisement, I'll log your use case and forward it to the relevant team for evaluation and correction. However, you can still stream the camera on Google devices (Chromecast/Google Hubs). The following instructions may help.

@Solla-topee thanks for passing it on. I was not aware that the streaming was part of the Public Preview Programme.

Thanks for the tip on streaming to a hub too. In my case, it doesn't solve my issue, unfortunately. Typically, when I'm home the cameras aren't supposed to be on and I wouldn't need to stream to a hub to see what is going on anyway. But I appreciate the thought nonetheless.
