Firmware Version: V1.2.1

Hello,

I have a Tapo C202 camera and the RTSP stream has suddenly stopped working.

Previously everything worked correctly, but now the camera constantly refuses RTSP connections. Any client attempting to connect fails immediately.

What I tested:

  • RTSP enabled in the Tapo app

  • Camera rebooted multiple times

  • Router restarted

  • Tested with multiple clients (VLC, FFmpeg, NVR)

  • Tried both local IP and hostname

  • Verified username/password

RTSP URL used:

rtsp://username:password@CAMERA_IP:554/stream1

Behavior:

  • Connection is refused or immediately closed

  • Happens with all RTSP clients

  • Camera is still accessible through the Tapo app and live view works normally

So the camera itself works, but RTSP seems completely unavailable.

Additional information:

  • Model: Tapo C202

  • Firmware: V1.2.1

  • Network: Local LAN

  • RTSP previously working for my setup

Has anyone experienced this issue or knows a way to restore RTSP functionality?

Thank you.

Hi,
The following instructions may be helpful if you fail to establish the RTSP/ONVIF connection.
What can I do if fail to stream the Tapo camera via the RTSP/ONVIF protocol?

If you have the SD card inserted and have subscribed to the Tapo Care service for video storage, the RTSP/ONVIF connection usually can't be established. In this situation, you can remove the SD card or stop using the Tapo Care service if you want to establish an RTSP/ONVIF connection.

Best Regards
