Model: Tapo C210
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 1.2.5

I have 2 C230 cameras and they are fine

But, my 2 C210 cameras both have the same idiosyncrasy in that the led will randomly turn red but both cameras are still working

When I reboot them the led turns green

This seems to have occurred when firmware 1.2.4 came in and 1.2.5 hasn't fixed it

One of the cameras is right next to the router so not a WiFi issue

Work that one out !!!

  @Kremmen

Hi,
From your description, the Tapo C210 may be controlled locally only when it has a red light. Please turn off Wi-Fi on your phone and use mobile data only when the camera has a red light. Then test whether you can control the camera in the Tapo app.

If not, please refer to the instructions below to troubleshoot: What to do if I can't control my Tapo cameras on the Tapo app?

Best Regards

OK, next time I spot a red led I'll turn my Tablet and phone WiFi off and report back

In the meantime I've just ordered a H200 so I can implement WiFi backup ..... and see what that does

Spot on .....

The camera in the garage was showing a red light. First time a C230 has done this

Switched phone WiFi off and it couldn't connect or view

Plan B is I've setup auto reboot on all 6 cameras which will ensure a clean connection daily

My WiFi is a Fritz triple mesh setup with a strong signal throughout but the cameras still occasionally disconnect. Never had this problem with 1.2.3 firmware

My office camera is only 4" from the router so I know it's not a weak WiFi

What used to happen on occasions when a camera dropped offline was I got a SmartThings notification that a camera was offline, now it seems my phone takes over the connection if it's in range

Hi,
If your cameras work fine after enabling the Auto Reboot feature, it's recommended to keep these settings for normal use.

You may also optimize the settings on your mesh network to see if they help. For example, below are some settings that can be changed on our Deco units. You can check whether your mesh network has similar settings to try.
Optimize IoT Device Stability with Mesh Networks

Please provide the following information if the same phenomenon persists.
  1. Is the LED status on the camera turned to solid red, rather than flash red?
  2. The troubleshooting steps you did.
  3. Refer to the following instructions to collect the camera log: How to get the log of Tapo Camera

Best Regards

Tuesday

Thanks for the extra info

I do have a Fritz mesh setup

Fritz 7530 Router

Fritz 3000AX Repeater

Fritz 1200AX Repeater on a different SSID to lock some devices to this repeater

Since I've set the auto reboot I've had no further problem, but, it was always very random so I'll monitor it

The H200 has just arrived and I'll set it up alongside my H100 and select 4 of my 6 cameras to link to it

No problem

My latest venture is getting my Tapo cameras working via Geofencing for Arm / Disarm and I've cracked it - in another thread here
