​I am experiencing a recurring audio issue with my Tapo C520WS outdoor camera.

 

Every time the camera reboots (manually or after a power cycle), the very first recording triggered by motion/person detection has severely muffled or distorted audio.

 

After that first distorted recording, all subsequent recordings have perfectly clear audio.

 

The issue resets every time the device boots up. It consistently fails on the first clip and works on the second one onwards.

Hi, 
Please provide the following information for further analysis of the reported phenomenon.


  1. If your camera has received the new firmware (v1.2.4), please update it via the Tapo app and check if it helps. If not, please wait patiently for the new firmware.

 

  2. After the camera is rebooted and before an event is detected, please check if you can hear clear sound from the camera on its live view page in the Tapo app. Please record a video manually on the live view page and check if the audio quality is fine.

 

  3. Are the detection video clips stored on the inserted SD card? Please send us the first detection recording after reboot and the other detection recordings for comparison.

 

You can upload the videos to your cloud server (such as Google Drive) or YouTube, generate a download link, and send it to me (@Solla-topee) via a private message.

Hi, thanks for the feedback.

 

1. Firmware v1.2.4 is still not available for my camera. I am waiting for it to become available.

 

2. I can hear clear sound on its live view. It functions normally.


3. All detection recordings are being saved to my Tapo H200 hub.

 

Manual recording after reboot has no audio problem. First detection recording after reboot has distorted audio. Second detection recording has no audio problem. From the second detection onward, the audio is clear (until next reboot).

 

I have uploaded three video clips demonstrating the issue. I have sent the link to you.
