Model: LB120
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

Just bought this bulb and even attempted to use an LED switch to turn it on and off however the buzzing it does drives me crazy and won't go away with either the traditional switch nor with the LED one. My research suggests that for LED bulbs you need also an LED switch? does this apply to TP-Links bulbs? Anyone else has had this problem and what steps did you take to resolve it? Thanks a bunch!

Typically you wouldn't use a switch to control an LB120. It can be controlled by a regular switch though usually just to reset it - normally you leave the LB120 powered on. If it's buzzing there's a physical problem with the bulb and you should exchange/return it. If you're using a dimmer switch to control the bulb that's what's causing the buzzing - the LB120 needs full power.

Thanks for your reply, What if the switch is used but its on full power? That would also cause a problem?

I had a dimmer switch and a TP-LINK light bulb got the same issue. I was suggested to use a normal power socket to power up the bulb then the issue solved. Not sure why but it should has something to do with the switch. Hope that helps.

Right, you should use an ordinary physical switch to send power to the bulb.  I've never tried but I suspect that even on full power a dimmer, especially a modern one, does not pass power straight through to the bulb and may introduce line noise or a voltage drop.

Hi,

Sorry  to respond late.

Cause the LB120 is not a dimmable smart bulb, it is not suggested to use it with a dimmer switch, which may causes the noise.

You can change another normal lamp base/switch to give it a go, and cause the LB120 is a smart bulb, it still can be controlled both locally and remotely by KASA app.

Good day.

@Cheeky_Kid

I bought it 2-3 days ago, I also find out humming buzzing noice when it's set up from 2% to 99% on 100% sims to be ok, on 1% kind of OK.

I was thinking to ask it might be firmware or should give it back to shop, don't think exchange will do something.

I have newest firmware updated

I have the same issue.

100% OK

1%-99% Buzzing

It's connected to a regular ceiling fixture.

@Cheeky_Kid

I have 5 of these bulbs. 4 in can lights and 1 in a sonos lamp.  The sonos lamp doesn't make any sounds, but the 4 in the canned lights do make a buzzing sound. The 4 are attached to a dimmer.  I'm going to swap the dimmer for a regular switch and see if that helps

@Kjack

Hi,

Sorry for the delay.

Could you please refer to the following suggestions:

1. Did you use a ordinary physical switch to send power to the bulb?

2.Would the brightness affect the noise, like 100% OK,1%-99% Buzzing?

3.How long have you had the devices and when did this issue start?

4. if we factory reset the light bulb and leave it un-configured, then power it up, would there still be any noise?

Thank you very much and have a nice day.
