Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.16

I have hub H200 and two C420 cameras. Cameras stopped giving in away mode movement detection (or the detection is not realiable, works sometimes, sometimes not) and even the movement is detected they don't give any alarm (sometimes give, sometimes not, sometimes from speakers comes only hissing sound). Also to my tapo app is not showing notifications (works sometimes, sometimes not).

 

I think that all this started after 1.2.16 firmware update. I have reseted all, the hub and the both cameras, but with no help. I think this has to be firmware/software problem, because both camera stopped working at the same time! And the tapo app recognizes the cameras and view video from them when used through tap app.

Hi everyone,
We have new firmware for the Tapo C420 V1 that may solve the reported issue, if you want to try the firmware, please send me(@Solla-topee) the MAC address of the problematic Tapo C420 via a private message with the format "Forum ID 654462 +C420's MAC address", and we will push the firmware to the camera for a try.

 I have exactly the same problem with the c420 cameras after the newest firmware update (1.2.16). Before update everything was ok. Tapo, please resolve this problem, because the cameras are not usable with the current firmware!!

Hi,
Can you share the pictures of the detection feature settings, such as the enabled detection types,  the activity zone settings, and the notification settings?
And it would be highly appreciated if you could provide a video showing the detection or notification issue.

Hi,
According to the camera's working mechanism, the event's movement tracks may make it can't be detected by the camera, it's recommended to share a video showing the event that is not detected by the camera for further analysis.

What is the Wake-up Sensitivity of my battery camera/doorbell?

For urgent help, it's recommended to contact TP-Link support.

As I stated in my first message, before the critical update 2.1.16 everything was 100% functional - I had no problems with person detection or motion detection (camera alarm started and video was always recorded in the cloud). None of the settings were changed after update 2.1.16, camera location is still the same. Since update 2.1.16 there is no camera alarm (only white noise form the camera speaker), I have no motion detection notification in my mobile app, no video is recorded in the cloud.

Is it a firmware problem? As TP-Link acknowledged it? Will it be fixed? I just bought the camera and I have the same exact problem as yours, but I never experienced a working camera (I have 2 of them). Notifications usually work (not 100% perfect but acceptable), but alarms + local clip registration work 1 out of 100 times. I tried everything, every position, every setting, nothing. Even with a camera on the table I can pass the camera 100 times, slow and fast, and no alarm, nothing. I noticed the alarm needs to be triggered for clip registration to start, I never got a video for a notification, never, is this normal?

I've got the same problem here.

Done resetting and everything. They work 1 time out of 100! Alarm sound is just a hiss, a sort of white noise.

 

I've spent €400+ on four cameras and I expect them to work! They always had a few hiccups but now they're unusable.

 

Any help? Any solution? I don't feel safe if the cameras are not working properly!

Hi, 
Whether the Tapo C420 work now? If not, please try to reboot the hub and check if it helps.
If the problem remains, please try to move in front of the camera to reproduce the issue, then record the time and date when you move in front of the camera, and send them and your time zone to me.
If you can record the white noise from the camera's speaker when it detects motion, please send it to me for further analysis.

My Tapo C420 with the latest firmware is working fine, and it's hard to say where is the problem now. Please help confirm the following information to ensure your settings are correct.

 

@Shocchino please send me the screenshot of your Alarm settings page to check if this feature is configured correctly.
If you have inserted an SD card into the camera to store video recordings, please go to the camera's Device Settings> Storage & Recording page, and send me a picture of this page and a picture of the Recording Schedule page.

 

@MC4RU firstly, please refer to the instructions below to check if your features are configured correctly.
