Using Firefox, windos 10, my login page refuses to save my TP Link ID (email address) - but it DOES save my password.

typing https://tplinkwifi.net in address bar defaults to https://tplinkwifi.net/webpages/login.html which then redirects to https://tplinkwifi.net/webpages/login.html?t=[13digit string removed] and gives me the login page for the router - can't recall if I set up a upw for the router itslef, but my common pw don't work and I dont want to do a hard rest - so I click the login with TP Link ID option - which takes me to another page where it is asking me for my ID - i.e. my email address, and here is where it will not save my username (don't get the popup asking to save details),

This page has same address https://tplinkwifi.net/webpages/login.html?t=[***************] and I have to manually type in my email address, THEN when I got to password it HAS saved that from last time - gives me the option of pasting saved password form NoUsername login (data last used) and a DIFFERENT address - https://accounts1.tplinkcloud.com

 

I've tried creating a new login from saved logins tab in firefox, for https://accounts1.tplinkcloud.com ., and I CAN add my email address and pw - but this still does not pouplate the login ID filed next time - although it does add an extra option to the saved pw field with the pw for my email /ID!

 

Why is TP link making this so difficult?

 

Has anyone been able to save their ID and not have to type it in every time?

I was able to get it to work fine by using Chrome. After you log in with the TP-Link ID  you will get the window on the top right asking if you want to save the email and password. When you close the browser and open the login again, you will automatically log into the router.

 

When you are done with the router browser, do not "log out", just close the browser. If you log out then you will need to enter the credentials again.

@Tony thanks for taking the time to help - this did not work for me; using Chrome or explorer, neither of them offers to save my username or password for the TP link ID login. So logging in with my email then password takes me straight into the router control page; if I close Chrome, then reopen I need to log back in - clickin gon use TP link ID button takes me to the ID input, but right clicking in the ID box does not give any saved input options, nor does starting to type email address.

In Firefox, right clicking at least gives me the "fill login" option, but using that says no login suggestions - or view saved  logins, which takes me to the setting menu for saved passwords (but this does not fill in web site details; I have to find tplink details, where it shows me saved logins for tplinkwifi.net.and https://accounts1.tplinkcloud.com

 - and if I try to go directly to that address I get a 404 error

I was able to get it working with Firefox, to go back to your original post the issue is not TP-Link, it is your browser settings.

 

What is happening is that your browser is blocking the site cookies so nothing is ever saved.

 

Open Firefox, select the top-right menu item (three lines) > select "Options" > select "Privacy and Security" > scroll down to "Cookies and Site Data" > select "Manage Exceptions".

 

In that window, you will put the URL of the site you access. After you put the address select allow to the bottom right of the text box, and then select "Save Changes" on the far bottom right of the window.

 

If you are connecting to the router while you are on the Wi-Fi of the TP-Link router do not use the DDNS address, use the private IP address. That should be: 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1

 

If you are nowhere near the router, in a completely different area/network/city, then use the DDNS address.

Yeah, FireFox doesn't the HTML it seems.

 

I have W10 + FireFox and I also use RoboForm. RoboForm initially couldn't handle it either, so I disabled it and tried FireFox and discovered they couldn't. So I contacted RoboForm Support. They asked for the web page, and I provided it. It took some time, but they did fix it.

 

I go to http://192.168.0.1/webpages/login.html?t={numbers removed}, if that matters, and have no problem now with RoboForm in action. Maybe other Password Manager might work too.

 

Just my $0.02 worth.

Sorry but I don't think that is is - first I haven't blocked cookies, so specifically allowing addresses likely wont and doesnt help - and its not clear what address should be used anyway for the TP link ID login page (I tried adding tplinkwifi and icloud addresses but neither helped). See next response - #5, I think its poorly written HTML code, or designed specifically to not save username/email address for some wierd idea of security? I dont write html so I have no ideawhat any of the code is doing if I inspect it. Neither Firefox, Chrome nor Explorer are capable of saving id/pw - oddly Firefox does save pw without username, so once I manually type in my email address, I DO get an option to use the saved pw, which is something.

 

Maybe someone from TPLink might like to respond - I doubt that will happen - looks like the HTML was written in China! - top few lines of frame source -

thanks for confirming its not just me - not sure what you mean by (roboform) fixed it - did they update their software to enable saving email/pw for the page, or what? Looks like its an issue for TPLink to fix, but I'm not going to hold my breath - all the router support teams (not just TPlink, Netgear is even worse) dont seem too concerned over user issues/suggestions for improvement.

Yes, when I first got the Archer A20 RoboForm (https://www.roboform.com/, a Password Manager) it just didn't work.Saved all the data but only put back the UID. I had to manually enter the P/W and press Enter. They did fix it though after I sent them the raw HTML. Works fine now.

 

I saved it under 2 Identities... One way I come in is via a desktop lcon to TPLINKWIFI, the other by entering 192.168.0.1 for the URL.

 

 

Yes, I left NetGear after MANY MANY years using their routers... still using the USB Network Adapter even. They have 'lost their way' and can't produce good bug free firmware. Also cutting out features one may have bought the router for. I got to a point on my R8000 that I was reduced to using older F/W with security issues or updating and losing features I use so they could cram in a Security Suite. Got the A20 and never looked back.

 

Yes, I also opened an issue with TP-Link on this... same answer, Chrome works. No different I guess than many web sites, some will not work well with Firefox, especially some banks. Show will display well but behind the scene scripts you need to fill out forms or do something will require IE or Edge even. Some do not work with Chrome either... oh well. At least one can get a workaround.
