I wanted to make this post here to help anyone else out with the BE550 Pro router. YMMV, of course, but this worked for me.

TLDR; If experiencing random reboots/instability with this router, disable MLO. It's been completely stable for me ever since.

I was frustrated with this router frequently dropping internet, causing all my SSIDs to drop for several minutes at a time. I had to either wait for it to recover on its own, or forcibly reboot the router to get it to recover.

This was completely unacceptable, especially while working from home. After many hours of troubleshooting, I discovered that MLO was the culprit of the problem.

My current theory is that the MLO software on this router is still buggy, as this variant of router hasn’t received a firmware update since December 2024.

PS. Not to mention, MLO is essentially without any real benefits right now for everyday client devices.

Hello @linkuser8282 ,

Welcome to our community.

Are the MLO SSID and the main network SSID the same? Is only the wireless device disconnecting? Which client devices are involved?

Please go to the firmware update page to check for new firmware.

We recommend sending an email to forumsupport.usa@tp-link.com  with the following information:

  @Joseph-TP

No, separate SSID for MLO, the main network, and an IoT network

All SSIDs would crash (disconnected all devices, no SSID broadcast visible) along with Ethernet connectivity until the router either recovered on its own or I would manually reboot it.

Client devices involved were an extremely typical mixture of WiFi 4-7 devices.

WiFi 7 devices were connected to the MLO SSID only and consisted of a few iPhone 16/17 Pros

along with a FastConnect 7800 PCIe WiFi card.

I am running version 1.1.1 of firmware, which is the latest for this device/HW version (December 2024 last firmware update in US).

This post was meant to be a PSA for anyone else with this router that may happen to experience the same issues as me. The router is working just dandy now with MLO disabled and I’m happy with that. I do not wish to hand over my logs at this time for review, especially as the router is stable now and any potential gains to be had with MLO in a router to client real world scenario are negligible.
