My cable modem is setup in the middle of my house.  The modem has 4 ports.  I have 3 BE95's.  Is my LAN faster to have the BE95's hardwired directly to the modem?  Or should I have 1 BE95 connected directly to the modem, then a switch to the BE95 and the other 2 BE95's either daisy chained to the switch or the other BE95's both directly connected to the switch.

X=BE95.

M=Cable Model with 4 port router integrated.

All dashes represent CAT6A.

Option 1

                        X

                      / | \

                    /   |   \

                  /    M    \

               X               X

Or Option 2

                        X

                      / |

                    /   |

                  /    M

               X--------------X

Or Option 3

                         X

                         |

                        M

                      /    \

                    X      X

  @The1Figman

Hi, welcome to the community.

May I know how much of your internet bandwidth?

The LAN speed would depend on both the port speed of the Deco BE95 and the Ethernet network adapter of the wired device.

If the ISP cable modem router is a gigabit device,

The LAN connection speed of "X--X" would be much better than "M-X".

Do you plan to set Deco into "Access Point" mode?

-The Option 3 only works when Deco is in AP mode

Options 1 and 2 are both acceptable. If you plan to connect a network switch behind the main Deco BE95, you can test "Option 1" first.

Thank you very much.

Best regards.

  @The1Figman I noticed the note that your modem has integrated router function.  In that case if you use it's router function the third option is acceptable with one of the BE95 set to Access Point and the other 2 added as mesh nodes to that AP....

  @David-TP  Thank you very much for your response.  Right now, I only have 1gig.  Optimum is installing 2.5 gig next week.

I haven't decided really which direction to take in regards to the setup.  The internet coming in is dead center of my house.  Therefore, I was considering placing the modem dead center.  But it sounds like it's best to run a CAT 6A (fiber is also a choice) from the modem to the BE95 in my office which is on one side of the house, then into a switch, then from the switch to the BE95's.

I haven't considered putting the BE95's into AP mode.  Should I?  My house BTW is is about 250 feet long. 😮
